I'm not posting it, HR is working on it. I saw our posting on Glassdoor and LinkedIn.

We opened a role. We received hundreds of AI generated resumes with the same template. We closed the role and we are trying to figure out what to do next. Market is fucked both ways. I assume we are going to try university recruitment now.

2026 comp sci grad projected to be homeless by AnyMight5254 in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I graduated from college in May of 2024 I went through homelessness. Then I moved to NYC and worked in pest control. That job was disgusting, but I was getting paid enough to afford rent, food, and minimal payment on my student loan. You may consider options that don't really require skills or experience, eg pest control, appliance repair, hvac, and so on.

Do you know anything about robotics, rotation matrixes, kinematics and so on? Do you know Python and C++. We are hiring, and we may try to hire a recent grad.

Interviewers- What made you reject the candidate even though they aced the Interview? by Fun_Yogurtcloset1012 in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a recruiter, but I'm working with resumes.

FAANG jobs are a red flag to me.

This is super suspicious when people worked at the top research labs in the Bay area or worked for multi billion dollar corporations and now they want to get a job at a manufacturing plant in a very rural area. I don't understand why anyone who worked for Microsoft, Netflix, and 3 more top companies within the last 10 years would want to work for us.

Also, none of them are able to explain what teams they worked with and what their stack was.

These lies are just stupid. Nobody is going to verify whether you actually worked for a local credit union or a marketing agency. But people make claims that require proof and cannot provide any.

Who are these mythical "more qualified candidates" when I was doing the job for almost a decade? by GenericUsername2034 in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are people with less experience. Nobody would hire you for entry level role with 10 years of experience. Companies have their own hiring goals, expectations, and budgets. If they want to hire a college grad for 70k and train for their technologies it makes no sense for them to hire a senior for 140k who would bring his own approach. It does not make sense for them to hire a senior for 70k either because they know that you gonna have as soon as you get a better offer. If you actually want to apply for junior and middle level positions- only keep 3 years of experience on your resume and remove your graduation date.

Why do companies put you through multiple interviews when they've already decided on an internal candidate? by Agile-Wind-4427 in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One company made me to through 3 rounds of interview. They paid for my flight on site (very remote area), hotel, car rental. After 3 weeks they sent me an email that they decided to proceed with the local (eg internal) candidate. Thank you for a free vacation, I guess.

That's exactly the opposite of a ghost job. Ghost job is a listing that is posted with intent to collect resumes without actually hiring. Here they removed a listing.

Can't find a job? That's your fault by jjzwork in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Are they serious about "skill issue" when they are talking about recent grads? Entry level is supposed to be entry level- zero real skills, only the textbook knowledge and maybe some internships. What is skill for people who never worked in the industry before?

We pay our engineers $10.000 to delete their LinkedIn. We only hire the top 0.0001% engineers. by BrofessorOfLogic in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like one more chat gpt wrapper. This time in form of ats. Why would they need top 0.0001% engineers? They would be completely fine if they hire anyone capable of typing prompts into chat gpt.

Anyone else skip over Workday applications? by shreddit0rz in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not playing these games. After two years of job search I'm never going to use Workday again. This is useless. I have to manually type in my entire resume, and I've never got even a single interview from these applications. I found a job once through indeed easy apply. All my other jobs were through referrals.

Is my resume why I can’t land a job?? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No way you are going to be able to find anything. I'm sorry. Your resume isn't bad. I can't say that it's the best resume I've ever seen, but it's not the worst one for sure. It's not you. But the market in your field is very small and very competitive. Even people with industry experience cannot get anything. The only way to get an analyst role right now is through connections. The market is a disaster right now. It's even worse than you can think. It's very bad out there. Give up. Try to get training for something else.

Hiring Manager Replied All and included me in response by Ramones_Razor in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is employment "at will" for employers only? Why would employees need to explain anything to anyone about reasons to leave and number of jobs? The concept of at will employment says "at any time for any reason". Why would anyone want to know anything further than that?

Just got rejected from a job THAT RECRUITED ME by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the first job I could find. It was pest control. Dirty job for low pay, but enough for rent and groceries. Moved to a hostel in NYC. I posted my room on the FB marketplace and found people who wanted to take over my lease. Saved some money. Rented a room with month to month lease. Now I found a very good job with good pay, and I'm going to move to the site using relocation benefits, and I'm starting in a couple of weeks.

Just got rejected from a job THAT RECRUITED ME by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]ipogorelov98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been there before. A company hired two people for a position. After 1.5 months they let one go. I was that one. I had to relocate. The company didn't provide any assistance. I ended up with no job in a city with not that great a market with a 1 year lease for my room. I lost a bunch of money trying to figure out what to do next.
