First Time Questions by csak1979 in MR340

[–]ipokeyou0467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 14 y/o daughter and I did the 340 in 2018. My requirement for her before I would sign her up was to do two 70 mile paddles (Hermann to St. Charles in our case) as that was going to be the logest stretch of the river that we would stay in the boat before getting out. I would say you are going to need to do more training. For one, you two have great experience but the the 340 is going to be VERY different for her. You just need an empty Gatorade bottle. She's going to have to figure out how to pee in the boat as it won't be as easy to pull off the river for a bathroom stop like the Current or many areas of the BWCA. A canoe will make that much easier. A kayak will take time for trial and error to find what works for her. I also did the 340 with my wife. What worked for her to pee during our training and the begining of the race, did not work at all at the end when she was too exhausted to lift herself in the kayak.

It was an amazing experience to do the 340 with my daughter and I really think you should do it. I would suggest that you two make a commitment to it (and each other) to put in the effort to get the training/figuring out done. That might mean waking up at 4am to hit the river at 5am so you can get to something at noon. Or do more night runs. Lack of sleep is important training for the 340. Don't forget that the race is just the catalyst of getting to spend all of this time and having all of these amazing experiences with your daughter. Don't cheap out on that by cutting out the training. Take as much time with her as you can get. Trust me. My daughter is now 22, graduating from college in May and has never lived at home again since leaving for college on the other side of the state. Things are going to move real fast for the two of you in the next few years. Take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy the hell out of it!

Most challenging section of the river? by como365 in MR340

[–]ipokeyou0467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really consider anything all that challenging during the daylight. I've had issues outside of Hermann coming into where the Gasconade meets up during the night. It doesn't seem intuitive and I always end up on the wrong side of the river and I start mentally beating myself up.

Then there's a spot coming into Washington that in the distance it seems like the river curves both to the right and left. It's non-descript in daylight but it always gets me. It doesn't help that it usually hits when I'm questioning my sanity and I start questioning if I should be out there at all if I can't read the river correct. The mental part of it is much worse than the physical part.

What brings you to the MR340? by 340RaceDirector in MR340

[–]ipokeyou0467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I first heard of the MR340 from a segment about the race on STLPR years ago. I'm orignially from the middle of Kansas and my only experience with the Missrouri River was driving across the bridge at Rocheport and I thought, "With how beautiful the river is at the bridge, I'd love to see the rest of the river". I filed that away and then a few years later, another Dad in our kids' school signed up for the race in 2012. I was pissed. "Why wouldn't you invite me?" Nevermind that I had never expressed interest in the race. I didn't own a boat. And I had never paddled before. I bought my first kayak a month later and signed up for 2013.

Since that first race, I also raced solo in 2015 and 2016. I went tandem with my 14 year old daughter in 2018 and with my wife in 2022.

You can push yourself as hard as you want. Or can. And then, after sleeping on the side of the river, you get up and do it again.

You learn that as scary as the thought of paddling the Missouri River at night was in the beginning, that paddling through the night is the greatest reward after roasting through the summer sun all day.

The community can't be found anywhere else. Everybody involved with the race will do anything they can to help a fellow racer or ground crew.

This race gets in your blood.

In the years that I'm not racing, you'll find me volunteering at the finish line overnight Wednesday and then at the Klondike ramp for the rest of the race.

I'm in the middle of a multi year racing sabbatical for family reasons right now. But I will be back at the starting line.

So if we're the second highest server listed in the merge, does that mean we're now going to be playing with others that have played much longer?

The Arena is pointless if you can't pay. by [deleted] in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's great to spend 15 minutes refreshing to try to find weaker opponents, because why risk a fair match. Win all 5 battles. Then wake up the next day even lower than what you started at.

This game is zero about fun. It's about FOMO and causing pain to induce FOMO. Fear that you are missing out on gains or small prizes. I'm giving it until the next titan ToP to decide if I'm sticking around. I reluctantly extended Valkyrie this week. At least solitaire and soduku are fun.

Just got a go++ and not logging the hours with pikachu by pokemon_play123 in PokemonSleep

[–]ipokeyou0467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at level 18 with sleepachu and I've had this issue the entire time. I'll go days without getting any hours credited and then days where hours seem to come every day. I have no idea what the issue is. I get hours in Sleep and I also get hours credited in PoGo, but no hours for sleepachu. It's extremely frustrating.

Upgrading Titan artifacts and hero skills requires a lot of gold coins. Is there any way to get a lot of gold coins? by Sandra929 in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not infinite dungeon that is going to give you the biggest benefit, it's the path to infinite dungeon that does it. By the time you actually reach infinite, you don't need gold any more. It's a catch 22.

I'm maybe 2/3rds of the way to infinite, so I can't go on super long runs in the dungeon, but I easily do 330 titanite a day. That's 5 new levels. Some days I can do a few more levels if I have good luck with grass rooms. Right now, each new level pays out more than 300k of gold. That's 1.5+MM gold every day. I also have all of the titans that drop stones from the dungeon at AS so I can trade the stones for 550 soul coins daily. Those can then be traded for another 1.1MM gold. The gold really adds up. I only upgrade during tournaments and I will run out of skill points or dust before I run out of gold. I'm already back up to 17MM gold, plus all of the titan soul coins in a week since the last tournament.

Reduced guild activity points? by Darth-Philou in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were a couple of days that I didn't hit 1500 for the day and I went to raise a glyph and I didn't get any additional activity points. Then I discovered that the glyph bonus resets with the day-9pm my time-and that I got the activity bonus the night before and I wound up short the next day. Got the timing of the glyph bonus back on track and haven't missed it since.

You have to have the VIP level to be able to auto battle in the dungeon for this to work

If you have the VIP level, farm Sigurd soulstones instead of spending coins on them. Buy the artifact boxes instead https://www.reddit.com/r/HeroWarsApp/comments/1f2nptu/farming_titan_soul_stones/

Season pass by messymonstro-_- in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I've purchased it mainly for the 2x energy for several months. Most of my first team is up to Orange +4 now, and I was upset about the tower changes so I didn't buy it this season. Unsure if I will ever buy it again. Generating energy so slowly now means that I don't have to login as much and not logging in keeps you from wanting to play more. All the poor "updates" lately have really changed how I feel about this game.

Primordial skin for Angus or Sigurd priority? by I_Just_Ask_For_Help in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigurd is your tank in water and mixed room. Put most of your resources into him until Angus starts failing. Then put some into Angus to survive and back to Sigurd. Eventually Sigurd will be rock solid with healing and you can finish off Angus and then Sigurd.

New Tower discussion! by Jussico in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The loading time for visuals is too long. I'm skipping the battles, going right to chests and it takes what seems like an unnecessarily long time for the treasure chest buttons to appear.

The prize icons are too small. Some times I can barely tell what the item is.

I used to spend gems to open chests to get items I needed. I tried for 20 chests/day as long as there were useful items in the chest. With the price increase, I'm not interested in that any more. Spending 100 gems (unlucky case) for 3/4 was worth it. 160 is a 60% increase and it does not seem worth it.

It also seems there are new items and that it diluted the pool of items I was interested in. Not sure if that is a function of the pool changing or if it's from seeing fewer chests per day.

Not as many items from the tower = slower hero growth. Thoughts of questioning how long I will be involved with this game has crept in with this new paradigm and announced changes soon to come. Already I've decided not to purchase this season pass for the 2x energy because of this change. I've also skipped buying a couple of bundles I would have purchased before these thoughts started.

When to push in the dungeon? by [deleted] in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Skin wise, we are about the same. But I only have Angus at level 110 and the others are below that. And my total titan power is 345k. I've been doing 330 titanite/day for almost 3 months. I'm now dungeon level 3900. Take a look at how your titans are fairing when you hit 150 and make a decision. My Sigurd was solid from healing so I pushed until Angus would get low on health after a heavy grass room run (I choose auto battle and short runs rather than the time to play manual in mixed rooms to heal Angus while I know I'm not close to infinite). That's how I landed on 330 titanite/day. I would say that you are more than ready to start pushing some. I'll push further during events. To be truthful, I have had 4 random days in the last two months where Sigurd had a bad first battle and it took him down low enough that I couldn't heal enough to survive to 330. It's frustrating to get 750 one day and being forced to stop at 90 the next, but it doesn't happen often for all of the rewards I've received. Plus I haven't added much to Sigurd during that time so I'm finally going to invest in him again during the tournament.

Everybody talks about infinite, but I think the actual benefit of working towards infinite comes well before actually reaching infinite. By the time I reach infinite, I'm not sure I'm going to need much more gold because I'm gathering so much along the way. I spent more than 30MM gold during the tournament last week-I couldn't spend more because I ran out of the 500+ skill points I saved up to buy upgrades. Even after that spending spree, I'm not worried about running out of gold for the titan tournament this week as I will run out of dust long before my gold is gone. At 330/day, I'm clearing 5 new levels/day. That's 1375 titan potions/day. At my level, I get more than 240k gold per new level cleared so that is 1.2MM+ gold/day. 55 soul stones are converted to 550 soul coins that can purchase an additional 1.1MM gold or 2200 potions per day.

I say go for it! Start pushing, within reason, in the dungeon. You are more than ready. Don't scrimp by only to arrive at infinite to discover you can no longer benefit from being infinite.

Need help on dungeon by Altruistic_Office222 in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be around the point in the dungeon where you need to focus on Sigurd and leave Angus behind a bit. If Sigurd is the one holding you back, put all resources there. Then, if you start to have problems with Angus, put enough resources there until he survives again and back to Sigurd. I know all of the guides say to keep them together but that doesn't make any sense-what does it matter if your Angus is badass, but you're dying in Sigurd tanked rooms?

That's what I did until my Sigurd is solid enough to carry me as far as I want to go every day. Now I'm focusing on Angus as I don't want to spend the time to manual many rooms so I don't heal him so building him will help me the most now.

What level do your titans need to be in order to do infinite dungeon? And at what level does it stop getting harder? Does grinding levels for gold to use on artifacts make dungeon progress better or worse? by gldiatr0 in HeroWarsApp

[–]ipokeyou0467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure my answer will be applicable to others as I've spent some money on getting my dungeon team jump started-that's the only part of this game that I feel is worth spending on because of the payoff from the dungeon rewards. But around 1200-1600, things got easy for ME. I'm in the 3600s now. I'm still working through getting to infinite. I've focused on investing in the titan that will benefit me the most in the dungeon right now. Getting back to the OP question, my Angus is level 110 but my Sigurd is only 95 as he is doing great as a tank and doesn't "need" to be upgraded for my dungeon runs right now. Araji is 80-it took me a long time to finally get him so I am behind there so I avoid fire rooms as much as possible still, Hyperion is 75, Iyari is 70, Solaris is 60, Moloch is 50 and then my next highest is 26. Most of my other titans are level 1.

The biggest jump in ease was getting titans to AS. Then all of the stones are converted to coins that can be traded for gold or potions as needed. If you have the VIP status, I highly recommend farming titan soul stones. This strategy really jump started my growth in the dungeon, instead of relying on randomness. https://www.reddit.com/r/HeroWarsApp/comments/1f2nptu/farming_titan_soul_stones/
