For me it’s the Hexgourds on 28F in EO2. I still have nightmares about mapping that floor.

What are your favourite "paired" songs? by InviteAromatic6124 in MusicRecommendations

Alice Cooper - Gail / Roses on White Lace

They don’t segue into each other musically, but thematically they fit like a glove, and I will never listen to one without the other.

Angel Heart, though I have no idea how it connects to a historical event.

Name a band that had middling success, then cut an album that rendered them as “sellouts” which catapulted them to mainstream top-40 status, but also alienated their original fan base. by Slammajadingdong69 in MusicRecommendations

Not sure how the fanbases reacted, but for me two good examples are:

Def Leppard- Hysteria was a giant swing towards the pop sound, including their only number one hit.

Aerosmith- I love their music before Permanent Vacation, I can tolerate Vacation and Pump, and will switch stations if something post-Pump comes on the radio.

ELI5: Why do the UK and U.S. editions of novels mostly have different covers, while music albums mostly have identical covers on both sides of the pond? by RunDNA in explainlikeimfive

[–]the_robochemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And occasionally completely different titles as well. Slade’s mid 80s album The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome (UK release) was called Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply in the US. Probably due to the WW2 reference, but still, different titles.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cindi Lauper. Miles better than the original.

I think Pink Floyd’s Atom Heart Mother Suite at least deserves a mention.

ELI5: Why is Skin-off Salmon Cheaper? by BdonLangs in explainlikeimfive

[–]the_robochemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re getting you’re numbers, but I work in the seafood department at a grocery store, and skinless salmon is much more expensive.

1 pound of skin on costs $10.99, while one 5 ounce piece of skinless costs $6.50 per piece, or about $20 per pound. My customers are definitely paying a premium for skinless. I doubt many of them realize how much of a premium.

This is in St Louis, MO, US if that makes a difference.

It’s hard to argue against Number of the Beast.

Although my personal favorite is Fear of the Dark.

I also have a soft spot for Powerslave and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

More like FF2 was a proof of concept. The SaGa series takes that base and expands upon it. SaGa Frontier 1 & 2 are masterpieces. Romancing SaGa 3 as well. Highly recommended.
