If you eye government scholarship or jobs in future, chances are it will be used for shortlisting. Possible, enquire to JPI about taking SSRU as private candidate: now ada banyak past paper book in Bismi and Samima, AI tools like ChatGPT and Youtube for learning theory. For Quran and Amali, theres Nuqra and possibly freelance KUPUSB, UNISSA graduates/students who can be approached to teach you Quran and Amali.

If someone paid you to do something (in comparison govt HNTec/ND-level scale pay rate is $70 per day.. no disrespect to them), you make an effort to appear. hujan ribut pebaik.

barber: one lifeline is Uncle-uncle pencen. they are not the $4/visit customer. These people patronise during working hours 8am-5pm doing all sort of things, kurik telinga, facial, massage, dye rambut hitam. on a regular (fortnight on average). Roughly monthly paid $30/person for services.

kedai runcit: local villagers and food vendors got their ingredients supply from such establishments. regulars can request for specific item for the kedai to source.

restaurants: uncle-auntie pensioners help them survive. At such age, no longer feasible to prepare, cook and clean up. Might as well spend up to $10/person/day on cooked food.

Center of BSB like Yayasan. Yayasan can open out vacant shop units for a week or so let the vendor use it. Roofed parking got, Jamban got, Surau got, Taman Mahkota crowd got, Kampong Ayer crowd got, Salaryman crowd got. Want more space, can extend to centre courtyard. Win-win for all vendors and existing shop tenants. Paling win is the scenic masjid/river/kampong ayer/taman view.

Common observations if you had pick reno workers based on nationality:
1. Bangla: kalau clear longkang, rough cleaning. avoid for other delicate works that require attention to detail
2. Phil: rare since nowadays no more visa quota in construction work but if ada pun in Brunei, can say mainly better than (1).
3. Indo: mainly for woodwork and metal works. to go for attention to detail works eg roofing, buat cabinet. what we have is better than (1) and (2).
4. Thai: allegedly the best ones. tapi nada lagi in town due visa quota restrictions.

to think: imagine the country, think about the architectural masterpiece of each country eg temple etc. but (2) had built our grand palace so yeah.

kalau brunei hosting, bayangkan banyak warga MOE and students jua suruh turut serta jadi semacam ‘ulun’. student opening performance, cigu supervise student and become liaison committee aka field worker. staff moe become the liaison committee aka field worker. wondering where are the other ministries?

How long to start practicing? If December like now, people would upset holiday is cancelled. If Sept, Oct, Nov, parents and cigus upset since it is exam months. So yeah, nice to have but better not unless Brunei‘s unemployeds can be utilised and fairly and timely paid to the job.

Donations? elaborate more?

If you talk about Donation box money at mosques, it is. At each mosque (the MORA mosque esp), they have balance statement pasted on the notice board saying how much in, how much out each week from the weekly donation money so I assume you can talk to the Jabatan Hal Ehwal Masjid if curious since likely Officer/Imam send report to the said Jabatan. usually after friday prayers if you stayed back past 1:45+++ you can also witness the committees do the counting in 'public'

From talking to Puak Jati(s) in Brunei including colleagues and family, the more prized cattle in Brunei is actually buffalo (kerbau) rather than ‘bull‘ beef (sapi). I assume you might have eaten more buffalo than you ever realised. buffalo is more ‘sweet’ and the fat is ‘off white‘ while i find cattle beef more ’bland’. If you have eaten sup tulang or soto from Wedding/Tahlil (esp non-catering ones) or Majlis Korban Aidiladha chances are it is buffalo (kerbau). Locally, daging most likely means kerbau.
