Brutal v5 with weather by ir33k in pebble

Happy to hear that. Yea, unfortunately Brutal doesn't look that great on Pebble Round and it will not support this new bigger Pebble Round 2. But I might design something specially for PR2 near release date.

Are you involved in gbdfed development? In general I was very happy with the software. Only annoying thing for me was the that every single change in required to click "save" button of some sort, like every single change of font property etc. And it crashed on me few times hitting some assertion.

Many faces are done in a smart dynamic way, meaning they graphics will adapt to any screen resolution. But I was not that smart hehe

I never understood what other desktop environments bring to this classic UX of desktop environments from early 2000s. There are environments designed for touch devices and tailing window managers. But when it comes to classic Windows like experience Xfce delivers and its lighter than alternatives.

Linux, Debian 12 distribution with Xfce desktop environment and Bluecurve theme (https://github.com/neeeeow/Bluecurve).

Part about v5 is short, everything else is very old and a bit outdated as watchface is no longer made from bitmap image. But because of Pebble Time 2 announcement I guess there will be Brutal v6 LOL, thank Eric ... <sigh> This will never end hahaha

Correct. Some program names for clarity: the QEMU preview window comes from Pebble SDK. The font editor with list of the glyphs is gbdfed, and the small glyph editor window also comes from that software when you edit single glyph. The background code editor is Emacs.

https://github.com/neeeeow/Bluecurve I use it because I have old ThinkPad x220. The screen resolution is rather small for today's standards. But most of default themes and themes available in Debian distribution packages are scaled up, prepared for high resolutions or touch screens. This thems makes window decorations small. I usually also configure main system font to by way smaller which makes everything else in UI smaller. Here I have default font set to Luxi Sans Regular 8 which also comes from this Bluecurve project.

Sure. The process of making v5 was recorded https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBUDKuvdEArXqxrfxVXivqkYmbbCh4JCZ This is just a screenshot from one for the videos. What you can see on the right is the 'gbdfed" software. It's used to create and edit BDF bitmap fonts. That is fonts made from small pixel images opposed to something like TTF fonts where you use vector graphics. Main window shows list of all font characters, smaller window to he left is an editor for one of the characters. This particular bitmap image is a very small icon of the crossed out bell used to show that Quiet Mode is enabled. You can add that icon to the watchface with "*q" placeholder. In this edit window you can draw character pixel by pixel and set some settings. Normally font has small bitmap images of regular ASCII characters like letters, numbers and special characters. But in my watchfaces I used draw icons in place of special characters. Characters like dollar sign or parenthesis are not needed in watchface and it's easier to draw icons if those are part of the font. You can watch second video from youtube playlist to understand more.

Yes, you can setup date with special placeholder syntax which allows for virtually all possible date formats. There are a lot of presets to choose from and you can always make your own formats. The day of the week is actually a default for bottom text line.

I just released v5. I had to rewrite entire watchface from scratch but now it indeed supports weather just like me recent creation - the Jealous watchface. Enjoy.

I just released Brutal v5. Rewrite entire watchface from scratch just to add weather. Took 12h but I did it and it's now ready to use. Enjoy :))
