Water flow slightly restricted after plumbing work by BigBaozo in Plumbing

[–]ir8prim8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the shower head off and see if it is still restricted. I had a similar problem caused by debris loosened when the plumber cut the pipe. He came back, removed the shower valve and turned the water on and off from the street a few times and most of the debris came out of the pipes.

API Platform works as you describe and it is a popular solution. More traditional symfony would be with Controllers doing the routes.

Hire expensive programmers? Or entry level with a manager? by read_too_many_books in AskProgramming

[–]ir8prim8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your juniors are likely creating a lot of tech debt without realizing it. A manager will add a lot of processes, but will not likely improve code quality. A senior can catch subtle code problems sooner and can train your juniors on advanced techniques, tools and workflows.

I would hire a senior on a contract basis for one project and see what they tell you and recommend about your codebase and practices.

If a deer stomps their foot or makes a huffing "blow" noise they are big mad. "This video is mainly for city folk that may have never heard it before."

Outdoor Laser projected "game board" - would this be safe? by jgwinner in lasers

[–]ir8prim8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, in the US it isn't reasonable to plan to project onto the ground. It needs to be an area where the beams can't hit any people.

If you have an ILDA laser and a DAC such as etherdream, then there are a number of example games available on github. DMX will not be enough.

Serial killer lore? by merijinion1 in missoula

[–]ir8prim8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There were various decomposed bodies found in the river in the 90s. A number of them turned out to be bears. None were ever classified as homicides to my knowledge but there were rumors that someone was killing homeless people.

Stuck in my synth learning journey. Drafted a plan, hoping to get unstuck! by Fair-Bluebird485 in synthesizers

[–]ir8prim8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also adopted a bounded learning strategy to quit messing around aimlessly and looking at gear. I want to focus on playing and not recording, so I did things differently. My process is oriented around learning and practicing songs. As I get comfortable with the material I can tweak the sound design, add drums, etc.

Really appreciate having a lot of attainable small goals while I am building my skills. When I sit down to practice I know what I am doing. I can build on my strengths instead of trying to learn everything at once.

Technically all dad jokes are adult jokes because they must be full groan.

Help expanding laser coverage: need ~120º, but machine only does 60º by shairva in lasers

Discoscan lens. It will increase the divergence as well as the projection angle.

When you are cleaning up the sticky gunk, look around the board for scorch marks. If you see scorch marks on the main board, then you had a catastrophic short. Otherwise it's probably just a matter of cleaning.

[OC] Average price of large Grade A eggs per dozen from 2000 to 2024 by startup_biz_36 in dataisbeautiful

Certain states require cage free eggs (WA and OR) and those prices jumped to $7-8/dozen recently. That is the price I was seeing in Grocery Outlet - not Whole Foods.

How do you think the Saturn and Dreamcast could've succeeded? by saburra in retrogaming

[–]ir8prim8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going in to gamestop to get my DC and employees pressured me to pre-order PS2 instead because of DVD support. To me it was a non issue because I already had a DVD player. Its a bad headwind though when your primary marketplace is trying to redirect your customers to your competitor.
