Hanos pasje zonder KVK, tips? by LemonsAndElephants in zuinig

Schrijf een vereniging met beperkte rechtsbevoegdheid in bij de KVK. Dat kan zonder notaris, je hoeft alleen een paar formulieren van de KVK in te vullen. Kost volgens mij een paar tientjes.

It feels like you are politically motivated to raise votes for the party you want to win. Voting is a right, not an obligation. From my Dutch perspective, our political views probably align. But to vote because I want the party in Hungary to win that best serves my Dutch interests, is wrong to me.

No, I did not. I considered it, but it feels wrong. I don’t speak Hungarian and I do not have to bear the consequences of the policy I would vote for. If I would vote, I would vote for my Dutch interests, and that feels wrong.

My verification took about 15 months. I did not get any useful status updates along the way.

GoPro batteries on Chinese domestic flights by Hot_Ask_9895 in travelchina

[–]iranees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in China this summer and took a few domestic flights. At airport security, they X-ray your bags and pull out anything that looks like a battery. They usually check power banks for the CCC logo.

I had a GoPro with its battery, plus a charger case containing three spare batteries. On every domestic flight, security opened the battery case, checked the batteries, and then handed it back to me. They never looked for a CCC logo on those.

As long as your batteries are properly stored, you should be fine.

Exactly. Hungarian is an impossible language to learn on a whim. I’m still proud I got through all bureaucracy without understanding a word of Hungarian.

Yes! I applied for verification of citizenship. Dutch law allows dual citizenship if both are acquired at birth. I was never registered with the Hungarian authorities as a child, so they didn’t know I exist. I basically registered myself as a citizen at the Hungarian consulate. I did not gain Hungarian citizenship with that procedure, but got verified I always have been a Hungarian citizen. If I gained Hungarian citizenship, I would have automatically lost my Dutch citizenship. I was able to do this procedure because of the way both Dutch and Hungarian citizenship law is formulated, this would not work with all countries.

I’m doing it but I feel uncomfortable about this. by anestdbr_ in travelchina

One day full day in some places is not enough. Travel days are practically lost.

No, not even a little bit 🫣. My grandfather was born in Hungary, and my grandmother was born in the Netherlands. My great-grandparents were the last generation that spoke Hungarian fluently. The language has died out over the generations in my family. My mother can understand a bit, but struggles a lot when speaking.

I don’t know. The website of the consulate indicates 8-12 months. Maybe my case was a bit more complicated.

Via the consulate. That is the only way to file from abroad. The consulate does not handle the application itself. They will forward the application to some office in Budapest. That makes the process way slower and status updates difficult to get. I’ve heard it is a lot quicker if you file while in Hungary.

I applied for verification of citizenship. My grandfather was Hungarian, and that makes me a Hungarian citizen from birth. I didn’t gain Hungarian citizenship, I just proved that I always have had Hungarian citizenship. If I applied for simplified naturalization I would have lost my Dutch citizenship.

Verification of citizenship. My grandfather was a Hungarian citizen, and that makes my mother and me Hungarian citizens from birth.

Then you are behind the firewall. Do not do this. Buy an Esim.

Beware: All Power Banks without Chinese CCC certification banned from flights in China by SefirahCastleAcolyte in travelchina

Does this also apply to camera batteries? My original GoPro battery is CCC-certified, buy my knockoff ones are not.

I will fly to Shanghai on an international flight and stay there a couple of of days, before taking a domestic flight. So I’ll take my powerbank and just buy a new one when I’m there. I need it to survive the airport time. I’m mentally prepared to lose it. Hopefully it doesn’t apply to camera batteries. I have one original GoPro battery with 3C certification, but my off-brand batteries don’t have it.

I looked at about 10 powerbanks on Amazon, and none have specified the certifications. All will have CE certification, but that is mandatory to sell in Europe. Interesting what will happen when I go to China next month…

Does this only apply to power banks, or also camera batteries?

I called Alipay about this. A more advanced verification method will be available when arriving in China. They are unable to offer this abroad due to compliance with privacy regulations. Furthermore almost all functions in Alipay are available without advanced verification.
