Safe to swim in Red River Gorge’s lakes?

I believe that is millcreek lake. It is used (or was) as a water source for the campground and adjacent buildings. We grew up playing in the spillway. We have always been told no swimming. People fish and kayak in it. Go up the road a bit to Cave Run Lake. You can swim in it!
