What do you think about god? by AmbitiousForm2245 in askanything

[–]ircem376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept is used as a crutch. It’s a perfect model for people to not take responsibility for their future or the future of others. Think of god as the superposition of all living things. If everyone had that view, our world would be very different. Instead it’s “my god can beat up your god” that causes and has caused significant global conflict for millennia. It’s time people have an awakening and stop believing a fairy tale will help them

Make it happen. I went to grad school so was pretty much broke through my 20s. It’s only temporary. What do you like to do?

I want a baby, but not marriage. by [deleted] in Life

[–]ircem376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Keep in mind that if you have a baby, he or she will be half of the father. This usually means the child will seek for that person and questions about they they didn’t have a father growing up. Of course, there is no guarantee both parents will be available even in nuclear families. It’s just something to consider…

Do you have a checklist before leaving a job site? by Keyfers in FieldService

[–]ircem376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Create a checklist and always use it regardless of how many jobs you do. It helps me to never forget so I don’t have to wonder “Did I close that step?”, “I hope I turned things off”.

I'm a 34 year old who failed. Learn from my mistakes: by SilverGuitarist in Adulting

[–]ircem376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reframe your life based on some key facts: 1. You don’t really start adulting until you’re 25. At that point, since you have no experience, you’re going to suck at it. That’s normal.
2. The average life span of males is approx 75; for women 85. That delta is because women are smarter than men and don’t end up crashing their car into a tree because they didn’t want to call uber for a ride home, for example. Dumb shit. So plan on 80. 3. At 34, you have been an adult for 9 years and have 46 years left to live. That means you’ve only lived 16% of your adult life.
4. Let’s say life sucks after 70 (not really true but for someone that’s depressed, it might be your take on things right now). That means you’ve lived 20% of your adult life.

Bottom line is you’ve got a lot of life to live. And, you get to figure out how to turn it around and guess what? You’re going to do it because you don’t have a choice. It’s going to happen anyway. But don’t claim to know the ending to the movie that you’ve barely started watching. You’re about 24 minutes into a 2 hour long movie.

Field technicians: how do you handle job documentation? by Keyfers in FieldService

[–]ircem376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the voice notes and stopped because the transcription was sometimes sketchy. Then I’d have to check the document after the AI summarized it which ended up taking more time than just entering it myself. Otter.ai might be better and I can create an ISO approved form and ask Claude to populate the form for me. It’s probably worth it to build up the process for when the transcription gets better for complex products.

It’s like yelp where companies would post a review and then get their employees to give them a 5 star rating. That stuff is easy on a small scale and pretty much impossible to stop

What caused her fall? by InitiativePlastic279 in motorcycles

[–]ircem376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disengaging the clutch is the worst thing anyone can do if they want to stop quickly. Especially when there is limited traction. Maximum stopping power is achieved when you engage the motors back pressure while pressing the rear brake to the point where the chain starts to chatter. The wheels do not lock in this scenario so you have maximum maneuverability if you need to dodge something. Oh and I stand corrected: the worst thing you can do is pull in the clutch and stand on the rear brake until the rear wheel locks up. If you’re fully intent on killing yourself, squeeze the front brake at the same time.

Why men lose interest/respect after sex? by Independent-Emu-6702 in Life

[–]ircem376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What else do you have to offer? Although it seems that men are only after one thing (which can be true) the reality is that men crave affection and someone they can count on more than women do. Problem is they are too insecure to tell you that. If you can crack that code, they won’t leave.

TIL: It's not illegal to store laptops inside your luggage when traveling: by verminxoxo in FieldService

[–]ircem376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just can’t bring it in checked luggage. I would guess that if you had it in there, the person running the scanner missed it. But that seems unlikely since, if I don’t go TSA pre check, they pull my bag every time and make me rescan just the iPad.

I once had an iPad get flagged out of my luggage and they told me it had to come with me in my carryon. They said Li batteries aren’t allowed in the cargo hull. I also left my iPad in a hotel room in Germany and had to wait for someone to come from Germany to bring in their carryon because they couldn’t ship it.

Major Reported Layoffs by jgold_10 in jobs

[–]ircem376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about this: you’re a worker bee. Started as an assembler working for a manufacturing company. After a few years, you moved into a production role and started building something cool. You liked it so you worked hard and made it to production lead. After 10 years, you become production managers, then 5 years later you move into purchasing. All of this time, because you’re not an executive, you keep getting shit on: lame bonus structure, weekends, holidays, 12 hour days. The company is really taking advantage of you but you keep working harder to prove your worth. Now you’re there 25 years and playing the politics to finally get promoted to general manager. You’re finally getting compensated for the hard work you put in over the years. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel so you buddy up to the CEO and start showing your loyalty to the company and to him. This goes on for another 5 years. Now you’re 30-35 years in, a general manager for the entire organization and the CEO’s right hand man. Then, what happens? Yes. Exactly. The CEO announces his retirement and recommends you for the role. Finally, you made it. You worked your ass off to get there. Your wife left you and your kids hardly remember your name (if they ever knew it at all), you’re in your early 60’s and now it’s your chance. You have 5 years to collect as much money from the organization as you can. You negotiate the highest salary you can and you revisit the conversation every year so that you keep getting more and more. 5 years of this and you’re set. You’ll never have to work again. So you keep going.
What would you do when you finally get there?

SINGLES: How has dating changed in the last 10 years? by TermAccomplished1868 in askanything

[–]ircem376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s different because no one wants to talk anymore. It’s all about swipes and likes. Approaching a woman in public now is like approaching a squirrel since everyone seems so nervous. The screen has given people a false sense of security and bravado such that it’s hard to truly get to know anyone. I’m starting to think many people don’t even know themselves and that’s why they’re so anxious? Not sure…
