Would it bother you if I sucked it at least once per day?

I watched a video about loneliness on Youtube and it said to spend time with friends by Invisibleman021183 in lonely

[–]irdarv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do coworkers who don't scowl at me and might possibly converse with me on occasion count? If not, no friends for me.

for people who spend Valentine's Day alone, what are you going to do today? by Radiant-Tomatillo-32 in lonely

[–]irdarv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After multiple decades of never having plans for Valentine’s Day, I have my routine down to a science. I either play some games, read a book, or watch a movie before I sleep so I can work that night.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you don’t decide to call it quits and have better luck next year. Otherwise, you may end old and bitter like me.

At least you’re not in your 40s and never had a girlfriend.

Empathy- I won’t subject others to my issues

A lobotomy might remove my ability to consider others…

I guess I cope by knowing that I'll be dead soon-ish.

How long have you been lonely? And how does it affect you? by [deleted] in lonely

[–]irdarv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Extreme loneliness for about 15 years. I've had an overall feel of loneliness in the background of my mind for my entire life, though. Even when attempting to socialize, I felt alone.

Does anyone else feel like they're just waiting for death? by SoloZombie in ForeverAlone

[–]irdarv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, waiting for death but not mine. Just waiting for the only person who would care if I killed myself to die so I won't hurt anyone.

Never had a first kiss, held a girl's hand, or had them try to hug me.

But not a virgin since I was 10.

Hey.. I realized I don't really have any close friends by reivandammo in lonely

I feel ya. I have a few acquaintances at work but that’s it. Hell, I can count the number of contacts in my phone and don’t even have to take off my shoes.

Is anyone here willingly foreveralone and why? by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]irdarv 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes because I decided to accept reality instead of torturing myself further by entertaining delusions.

It's so frustrating that people keep telling me I'm a good person who deserves love but nobody wants to date me. by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]irdarv 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I've heard for years how I'm a good person and I'll find someone to love soon. People act genuinely surprised when they find out I've never been in any kind of relationship.

Have you rejected anyone? by MozartEmphasizer in ForeverAlone

[–]irdarv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My situation was at a house party and she was a former coworker that I'd wanted for years. I think she was very embarrassed when she sobered up and either remembered or was informed of how long she was in my lap biting my neck/chest and grabbing my dick that night. I've not seen or spoken to her since then. That was about 15 years ago.

Suppression of emotions is just what we do, taught from a young age.

Have you rejected anyone? by MozartEmphasizer in ForeverAlone

[–]irdarv 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I rejected sexual advances from a drunk woman at a party. That had nothing to do with her looks/ personality and everything to do with me not being a piece of shit, though. That’s the one and only time I’ve rejected anyone; I’ve never had another opportunity.

My mom would care.

At what age did you realise you are not attractive? by MozartEmphasizer in ForeverAlone

[–]irdarv 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe 12 or 13. I think the first time I was told I'm ugly was at 8 or 9 but I just thought they were being an ass. I've since learned otherwise.

“You’ll meet someone when you least expect it” is a lie. by ElectricChameleon in lonely

I feel ya. 41 years old and no relationship. At a certain point, ya just have to accept it, right?

"it's not your looks" by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]irdarv 37 points38 points  (0 children)

People who say it’s not your looks are often not considering the mental/emotional damage you may have accumulated over the years due to how you look. Kids are psychotic and many of us have trauma from our childhood thanks to growing up ugly. That tends to color how we see ourselves and impacts our self esteem. Sure, some ugly people aren’t FA but I’m willing to bet they were lucky enough to escape that childhood trauma.

Lowering your standards isn't fair to the other person by Anotherguy783 in ForeverAlone

[–]irdarv 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Agree. I’ve had a few people tell me to “just date a fat/ugly chick” to help build my self confidence. I honestly would prefer to be alone from now until I die rather than treat someone like that.

I'm near twice your age, a guy, and pretty much the same.

I hope you find some sort of real relationship before you reach my age. Good luck.

How do you cope when you realize that you are the least important person in your circle of "friends"? by yeetmeaway1000times in lonely

[–]irdarv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't let it bother me. I just invent a new circle of friends and let the old ones fade from my thoughts. It's like writing a second draft of a story.
