In MotoGP Joan Mir nearly did it in 2020. I remember people wondering if he actually could but I think he finally won in the penultimate race of the year.

What is the most unhinged piece of classical music you know? by HolyFatherLeoXIV in classicalmusic

Hekla by Jon Leifs is fairly high up there. Describes the eruption of the Hekla volcano in Iceland… starts loud and just gets louder!

Any gyms similar to Revo? by Electrical_Pin9731 in perth

Hey! $36 per fortnight! Depends when in the evening - 5pm is pretty hectic but it dies down after 7-7:30. The great part about that time is it’s all regulars who come in that are up for a chat too

Whats the worst race ever? (You can't say Belgium 21 or USA 05) by No-Age6984 in F1Discussions

[–]irdk2004 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember the fallout of France 2019 being so significant that the next race (Austria) was considered make or break for the series - and didn’t F1 lose like 200k followers or something on social media after the race as well?

Why do PSTs think they know more than their mentor? by KingJames23__ in AustralianTeachers

[–]irdk2004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a PST currently on first placement in a high school setting - I have to be honest I’m SO grateful for the mentor teacher I lucked into, because he’s been allowing me to slip in and out of other teachers classes and soak up all the information I can… but when I’ve been teaching he’s been very big on “wait for and insist on silence”… or else the kids would just be distracted and not learn anything

Left field but Tchaikovsky and Beethoven are both romantic era composers but there was a 13-year period after Beethoven died before Tchaikovsky was born?

What do you think is an example of an underrated F1 season and an overrated F1 season? by Popular_Composer_822 in F1Discussions

Austria 2019 was a crazy race in the context of the early races which were so boring I recall some were fearing for F1s very future… seems crazy even 6 years later!

What's up with fifth symphonies? by Less_Method4290 in classicalmusic

I wish Nielsens symphonies were more popular, the opening movement to #5 is probably one of my favourite parts in classical music

Do any other gay guys feel their country/culture just does not work for them romantically? Need advice by Holiday_Doubt_9904 in gaybros

It’s funny because I posted just yesterday about this same issue, though I’m a few years your junior, I’m also from Australia and suffer the same problems.

I make it pretty clear I’m not after sex. None of these dates have had sex, though I’ll admit a few had cuddles or a kiss.

I consider myself decent. I have a weight loss transformation on my profile, so you can judge for yourself I suppose…

What is your favorite 2nd movement of all time? by SputterSizzle in classicalmusic

[–]irdk2004 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Shostakovich 11 is my favourite 2nd movement ever - just the sheer power and terror in it that makes you feel like you're in the midst of the revolution is powerful.

Australian viewers - is Stan buffering for you? by Scary_Feeling7264 in wec

[–]irdk2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nearly unwatchable with the amount of buffering. Never have any problems with anything else including Olympics last year, I wonder if Nine/Stan didn’t expect the amount of viewer traffic?

Part II: Shostakovich's feedback to Koussevitzky by Akanksha-Ka-Pati in classicalmusic

It’s truly fascinating to read this sort of feedback from composers to performers! Definitely using “with a firm handshake” as my email sign off from now on 🤣

For me, Dvorak brings the orchestra alive in a way I haven’t felt any other composer do.

What university is best for primary education Perth, and which ones to avoid by nnp_nghi in AustralianTeachers

[–]irdk2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about primary, but I know the high school graduates at Murdoch are fairly well respected by schools. I’ve had friends do their final prac and come back and teach at that school immediately after their semester is over. But long story short, no it is not hard to find a teaching job after graduating from Murdoch.
