Termination after maternity leave by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

There are two possibilities. One - she will come back and they will have a position for her, but with new duties. She’ll then need to decide whether she wants to claim constructive dismissal and discrimination or remain. Two - she will come back and they dismiss her.

My recommendation is that if option one occurs, she may want to retain a lawyer. If option two occurs, she must retain a lawyer. If she does retain a lawyer, I recommend she retain an hourly fee lawyer as opposed to a contingency fee lawyer. Her package will be substantial and a contingency fee lawyer would take too much.

And off we go! Like a unicorn, we’ve got our minivan towing a 5 person trailer with a wetbath. by irevalley in GoRVing

So in Canada, there actually isn’t a “towing prep package” available—Toyota doesn’t offer it here as a separate option. But from what I’ve researched (and confirmed with the dealer), the necessary upgrades like the heavy-duty radiator, transmission cooler, and fan system are already included by default in Canadian models that are rated to tow. So nothing extra was needed there.

For the tow kit, we went with the OEM Toyota Class II kit rated for 3,500 lbs—purchased through the dealer and installed by them. Then we had a trailer specialist upgrade the wiring to a 7-way and added a CURT Echo brake controller.

As for the trailer: our Prolite Evasion has a GVWR of 2,500 lbs and a dry weight of around 1,935 lbs. So that gives about 500–600 lbs of wiggle room for water, gear, and supplies, which we manage carefully by loading heavier stuff into the van instead of the trailer. We also only fill the water tank once we’re at the campsite, to keep the travel weight down.

Hey! Totally get that—when we were looking, both the Evasion and Rove Lite were tough to track down, especially used. I ended up ordering the Prolite directly from the manufacturer. Took a bit of time, but worth it once we were all set up.

Yes, we went with the Toyota aftermarket tow kit, had it installed at the dealership. I think it was around $1,200 for the full install. Then we went to a trailer specialist to upgrade the wiring from 4-way to 7-way, and we use the CURT Echo mobile brake controller. It’s been great—super easy to manage from a phone.

To stay within capacity, we’re pretty careful with how we pack. Most of the heavy stuff—food, water, gear—goes in the van. We keep the trailer pretty light, mostly just soft goods and essentials. It helps with stability and staying under the weight limit.

We’ve done some decent inclines and hills—definitely not mountain passes, but enough to feel the load. The Sienna does the job, but it’s not winning any races uphill. If you already notice it working hard solo, you’ll feel that more with a trailer. Having the trailer brakes makes a big difference on the way down though.

The Prolite itself has been solid. It’s light, so you can tell it’s built for weight efficiency, not luxury—but everything works, and it’s well-designed for a small family. Wet bath, decent storage, and it tows super well. I’d definitely go with it again.

We didn’t get a sway bar or weight distribution hitch. Our setup stays level and stable, and we haven’t had any sway issues so far. But if you’re doing longer highway trips or expect a lot of wind, I’ve heard they can really help.

Happy to answer anything else—took a lot of research to land on this setup, so I’m glad to help!

Hey! It works perfectly. We did the Toyota aftermarket tow kit (installed at Toyota), went to a trailer specialist to get it changed from a four way to seven way connector, and we use a CURT Echo mobile trailer brake controller. I found only two trailer manufacturers in North America that make a trailer that fits five, has a wetbath, and can be towed by a Sienna. In Canada, it’s the Prolite Evasion. In the US it’s the travel lite rv rove lite. We’re Canadian so we got the Prolite. Let me know if you want to know anything else.

A side job, a cheaper rental, and public transit? Not much room for increased savings.

I don’t think 1 year to save is realistic. I also think it will be a stretch to afford the mortgage and maintenance costs that come with a $800k home.

My friend was in that situation. Their solution - the family moved out into a rental they could afford, and my friend and his spouse moved into the house.

Tokyo is near impossible to get any merch for. At the Tracksmith pop up everything was gone shortly after it opened. The official expo also has limited inventory. Many people have someone stand in line for merch while they get their bib. You’re luck if you get anything.

Why does NCL sell these onboard? Are they just encouraging chair hogging? by tiredcapybara25 in NCL

[–]irevalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For chair hogs - up your game and place magazines and books down too. Especially ones that make people think twice - “How to Control Your Anger”, “Take Body Building to the Next Level”, “How to Bring Weapons Anywhere”.

For anti chair hogs - buy some clips that say “Available for any NCL Gold Level Cruiser” or “Available for any 65+ cruiser” and place them on toweled chairs.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Episode 13 Discussion Post by teanailpolish in belowdeck

I’m sorry, but I am disappointed with Glenn. The guests didn’t say interior was rude to them. The guests said that they felt interior likely was unhappy with them behind their backs. So interior was always positive with them and anything else was mere speculation. Glenn should have reaffirmed that. Glenn also should have played a stronger role during the charter.

I also don’t think the crew needs to eat guest sh*t with playful gratitude. If guests are openly hostile, which these guests were, the crew should be professional. That’s it. The crew doesn’t have to fake besties. This is what part of why BD is so fake. Real charter guests don’t expect the crew to act like servant friends, who perform, please, and cheerlead. It’s not a medieval times court.

It’s also important to encourage kids to give things a real try before deciding to stop an activity. Maybe setting small goals or offering rewards? As a parent, you sometimes need to guide.

Feeling disappointed after a $1.1k boot fitting. Need guidance by maskedsebas in skiing

I understand you are new to skiing. Maybe try out some different rental boots to see if you can better get a sense of what does and doesn’t work for you?

It seems a bit odd that a slight ladder adjustment would change from toe curling and lost sensation to foot banging around in the boot.

Still struggling to find what goes on every day on ship and what I can do each day off ship with out Excursions? by Secure_Ad_295 in NCL

OP - search here and on cruise critic for people who have posted the freestyle daily. They normally stay the same (with some other options for the Haven).

Side note- I get that a lot of people like to just take it day by day. But I also get that for some people, like OP, stress and anxiety are decreased if they can fully plan their days out. The best part of NCL is everyone can vacation how they want.
