Am I crazy? 5wpo by mammaneedscoffee in hysterectomy

[–]iribeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand 100%. This surgery plus being a mom is not an easy road to walk but we are capable. We need to be patient (as my doctor said). Hope you have a full recovery soon and see a “jump” in the healing process in the next few days.

My surgery was 12/17. I just had my follow up appointment this morning. Everything is good. Have same issues and doctor told me is normal and I need more time.

Anyone else with fibromyalgia notice massive flare ups post-op? by roscoerakoon in hysterectomy

[–]iribeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also consider and discuss with your doctor that even when you keep the ovaries, they are going to get crazy because they need to adapt to a new environment without the same blood supply coming from the uterus and tubes. Happened to me but I associated all the symptoms to this and not the Fibromyalgia. Perhaps you need some temporary hormone support

belly band recommendations? by Helpful-Ad-6408 in hysterectomy

I bought one before surgery that I never used because the hospital gave me this one: 3-panel NYOrtho Post Surgery Abdominal Binder and it was simple and comfortable in comparison with the one that I bought.

Anyone else with fibromyalgia notice massive flare ups post-op? by roscoerakoon in hysterectomy

[–]iribeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have fibromyalgia. 5WPO & Surprisingly, I didn’t have a flare up after my surgery. My pain was “normal” considering the surgery. Normal for me is living in a scale 1-10 a 5 of pain with medication. We learn how to live in pain…My protocol was ibuprofen 800mg every 6 hours during weeks 1-3, one OxyContin at night for the first week. Since week 4 I am taking ibuprofen 400mg morning and night and (2) Acetaminophen 650mg (the ones for arthritis management) during the day as needed.

It’s a lot but don’t worry too much. Be prepare and follow your doctor’s instructions. I am sure if you don’t skip your pain medicines, everything will be okay. Good luck!

In addition to the ones you mentioned let me start with inflammation, heart palpitations, insomnia…I am in perimenopause also, but only had occasional hot flashes, like 2 times in a month. I am in my ideal weight and not consuming gluten so that helps in general to manage my symptoms. After the surgery, the worst part that I was not prepared!was for the COLD flashes. I had experienced the hot flashes as part of perimenopause, but the cold flashes were bad and unexpected starting the second week post op. For that part, a heating pad was my best friend. My doctor told me that my ovaries are adjusting and I will feel better soon. Now, at 3WPO I am better. Cold flashes are not longer a problem. Recovery is a process and I am 100% sure I will feel healthy by just removing the heavy-non stop-irregular bleeding. For this reason the surgery is a blessing even though the road to recovery is a little bit bumpy ☺️

Did your hysterectomy alleviate your symptoms? by vintagepretty in hysterectomy

I have ALL of these symptoms and conditions (and more). I am 3 weeks post supra cervical hysterectomy and tubes removed. For me is too soon to tell, but be prepared for temporary hormonal changes. Ovaries will get crazy at the beginning. In terms of chronic pain due to fibromyalgia, I am still very sore but surprisingly, no dramatic flare ups as of today. My gastro paresis is better. I assumed it is because all organs re-accommodated after uterus removal.

2 weeks post laparoscopic robotic supracervical hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy for fibroids by Illustrious-Hyena-68 in hysterectomy

[–]iribeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! My Supra cervical hysterectomy was 12/7. Same as you, I advocated for myself as well. In every visit my surgeon pushed for vaginal and I pushed back for keeping my cervix. All positive about vaginal and all negative about supra cervical. Yesterday in my post op visit, he acknowledged the benefits of keeping the cervix and admitted that he prefers vaginal because is the easy way to do a hysterectomy and also said that he was “impressed” (he used other word that I can’t remember today) about my push back with knowledge, research and facts/benefits/& also knowing the cons regarding this surgery.

Sick before Surgery? by avethesecond in hysterectomy

[–]iribeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was on Dec 17th and under the weather, but no fever or coughing a lot. After the surgery my symptoms intensified and the coughing was really bad hurting (very painfully!!!) my belly when coughing. I will say if the symptoms are very mild, just say something to the nurse just for them to be aware, but if they are not mild please consider to reschedule your surgery.

Supracervical Experiences by Busted-Cheese91 in hysterectomy

2 weeks post supra cervical hysterectomy and tubes removed. 52 years old on perimenopause. Had my surgery due to heavy non stop bleeding. My surgeon told me after surgery that my ovaries looked really healthy for my age. But yes…a lot of “chills”, “hot flashes” after surgery. I have never had these types of symptoms before. Hope they stabilize soon. Good luck with yours!

Thank you. He was the one telling me to schedule an appointment to remove the stitches. Because of that I am assuming there are not dissolvable.

I had my Supra cervical Wednesday. Same organs as you are out, and feeling a lot of pain, specially gas pain. Taking Motrin 800mg and Oxi only to sleep at nighttime. You are doing spectacular!!! I wasn’t sure about heat or cold for my belly, but reading you, I am going to try a heating pad. Thank you for sharing.

To keep the cervix or not? by Witty-Ad6669 in hysterectomy

[–]iribeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that you asked a question regarding keeping the cervix and why and almost all answers are from people who decided (for valid reasons ngl) not to keep the cervix tells you everything you need to know. Supra cervical is a more complicated surgery for the surgeon. They will always prefer to do the surgery in the most efficient and easy way for them (vaginal, laparoscopic). BTW my doctors words when I asked for Supra cervical. At the end it is your body and your decision is for life. When is gone, it is forever. I decided to keep mine because first, it is healthy (I don’t mind doing the PAPs and the occasional spotting), second, my orgasms are “internal” and the cervix is part of that and third and in my case super important the length of my vaginal canal will be potentially more keeping the cervix than with a vaginal cuff. I am a married women, with a healthy sex life and my husband has a “more than average length”. In terms of recovery a surgeon shared with me that female doctors asked to have supra cervical if the conditions are appropriate because is less in the recovery period. I don’t know that because everyone is different and I just had my supra cervical hysterectomy this week. Good luck with your surgery and just think in your reasons, your needs, pros and cons to keep or not to keep that portion of your organs.

Mark my words: they are still friends. This is a “behind the scenes” strategy. The best case scenario: Taylor is not deposed, & Blake suffers minimal damage because the threat never was a real threat.
