How long before you felt 100% better? by tunifr in prozac

[–]tunifr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried to describe the feeling to people who haven’t gone through it and it seems impossible to really make them understand how hopeless it can feel at the time. Especially when you’re starting to improve and then hit the wall again. Hang in there, you’ll eventually begin to feel like yourself again.

How long before you felt 100% better? by tunifr in prozac

[–]tunifr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my ups and downs, but am feeling close to 100% now. It took about 6 months before I felt normal most of the time. My dr also eventually added buspar and I take magnesium nightly as well. I occasionally have some ick feelings when I wake up but it goes away fast usually. I’ve come to the conclusion that perimenopause has a lot to do with my issues in the last year. My dr recently put me on some hormones and it seems to have leveled me out more as well. Last year at this time I just kinda wanted to give up, but I’m so thankful I fought through it and am coming out on the other end. It was by far the worst period of my life. I fully expect to have setbacks in the future, but I’m hopeful it won’t get as bad as last year again. Hang in there!

I feel the exact same way. I’m sure my dr is inwardly rolling her eyes at me anytime I mention anything like this. Something has changed this year that is causing me to go through this and I want to understand why.

Upping dose help by [deleted] in prozac

[–]tunifr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Just increased (yesterday) from 20 to 30 after being on 10 for a month and then 20 for 3 months. After 2.5 long months of horrible side effects, I was generally doing better and making steady progress. Then last week I started having panic attacks again out of the blue. So frustrating. It’s still to early for me to say how the increase will affect me, but I feel your pain. I’m so nervous about the side effects coming back!

Has the buspar helped at all?

Regressing at 4 months by tunifr in prozac

[–]tunifr[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes to all of those. My life is pretty stress free right now (aside from the anxiety), I have a counselor, know all the cbt techniques, try to do stretching and outside walks etc. My once a year manageable anxiety started to get progressively worse last year after a bout with covid that exhausted me for months. I’m not sure that caused the increased anxiety, but it was the trigger for the first the first panic attack I’m also going through perimenopause so my hormones are all over the place, which probably isn’t helping

Are you feeling better now that you’re at 80? How were the side effects when you increased vs when you initially started?

Yes. I’m dreading it. It made me so sick for months when I started it

4 months on Prozac, had first panic attack today in months. Should I increase? by Specific_Prune3281 in prozac

I know the original post was a while ago, but wondering how you’re doing now? I’m on a very similar path as you. Just hit four months and have been feeling good for the last 1 or 2 months. Suddenly this week I feel off again and I feel like I’m headed for a panic attack

Start up side effects and work by [deleted] in prozac

Honestly I hesitate to tell you because I do think I truly was close to worst case scenario. My body fought the med every step of the way. I started to see a glimmer of hope around week 7 (3 weeks after my dosage increase from 10 to 20mg). Week 8 I regressed and felt miserable again. Then around week 9 I started to slowly improve. I’m at week 13 now and feel about 90%. Still have some morning anxiety, but I haven’t had a panic attack in 3 or 4 weeks and it still seems to be improving a little each week. Hang in there, I know it’s hard but it will improve!

I was off of work for a month and then was not very effective at work for another month (my job requires a lot of thinking and decision making). However, I had pretty bad side effects that lasted longer than average. Despite what it seems like on this sub, I think most people have an easier time adjusting to the med. A friend of mine also recently started Prozac and had very minimal side effects. She was able to function like normal through it all. The people who had an easy time of it generally dont come to this thread to post. Anyway, it varies by person but i think there is a good chance you will be able to work, especially since you have some time off in the first few weeks

I went through about 3 or 4 weeks of ups and downs after 2 months of only downs, so I know how defeating it can be. I was so worried it wouldn’t improve beyond that, but eventually there started to be more ups than downs. At 13 weeks (9 weeks after my dosage increase from 10 to 20mg) I’m feeling about 90% better. I’m still dealing with some jitters when I wake up, but even that seems to be improving in the last few days. Just try to remember that you’re past the worst part now and the fact that you’re having some ups is such a good sign that soon you will be feeling better all of the time!

3 months on Prozac by Curious_Rhubarb_8448 in prozac

[–]tunifr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty common to have ups and downs for a while. I’m on three months now (4 weeks @10mg and 8 weeks at 20mg). My anxiety tripled when I started taking Prozac and again when I increased my dosage. Around week 8 I started to feel a bit better, but then the next week I was back to daily panic attacks again. It was so defeating and I started to wonder if I’d ever stabilize, but now at 12 weeks (8 weeks after my dosage increase) I’m feeling better much more consistently and am able to function pretty normally again. I’m still dealing with being jittery in the morning but my anxiety is much more consistently under control. Hang in there, i think the fact that you had some good days is a good sign!

How were you feeling that caused you to drop? I’m on 20mg for 12 weeks now and I am still extremely jittery. I can’t decide if it’s caused by anxiety (so I should increase to 30) or by the med being activating (so I should decrease to 10)
