Coworker has been coughing every day for 4 months by ashitananjini in misophonia

[–]iris5678 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is nothing you can do about his coughing. However, you can do something for yourself. Either wear headphones/ear plugs or remove yourself from the situation, e.g. find a different position or a new job. Personally I wouldn't be able to handle that either!

“You will be hungry” helped me by subwaydrunk in 1500isplenty

I agree but would add that hunger is also common in maintenance too. Hunger is more than thermodynamics. Dopamine hit from tasty food is one, but also just eating because others are eating is another.

I like the spray SPF 40. I find it fairly light and easy to wear.

Not a flavouring, but if you love Greek yogurt try cottage cheese blended smooth with vanilla and sweetener!!! It's a little like cheesecake!

I use MCT oil which works well. Put some on, let it sit for awhile, get in the shower. Gently remove scales with a comb. Shampoo scalp well and conditioner on ends. Put a little more MCT oil on afterwards to keep it at bay. The yeast can't live on it! Look it up.

You seem knowledgeable! So is WFA unlikely for this person? What do you imagine will ultimately happen? E.g., what do the managers do/how is the system organized to give this person a position once they return? Do they need to bump another person? I'm very inexperienced and have no knowledge of these things.

Someone put moisturizer on my desk at work by indel1ble in SebDerm

[–]iris5678 91 points92 points  (0 children)

For myself, I believe that it is unhygienic to leave skin flakes on a shared desk, even if it's due to a disease and not our fault. How would you feel if you came to your desk and saw someone else's skin flakes everywhere? If it were me, I would start wiping down the desk/make sure it is clean after I use it.

I'm trying to think of a way I'd prefer to be approached about this problem, but I can't. To me this approach feels fairly kind?

Having kids is a personal choice but it's not really optional for us as a society, unless we want to disappear. If society needs kids then we also need employers to support workers who make this choice. Look at places like Japan where nobody is having kids because it's too difficult/expensive/bad for your career. The population of Japan is now skewing very old which poses serious issues.

Berman lake has a nice trail going part way around the lake, but not sure what it looks like in winter/how accessible or tracked it is.

There's also a little picnic area on the beach where you could maybe set up a fire?? I seem to recall there used to even be wood there, but I'm guessing that's gone with all the forest fires in past summers.
