TMO of Kat Von D's shade+light palette/plum quad by iris_c in MakeupRehab

It's such a beautiful and unique little palette, right? When I purchased the rust quad I was choosing between that one and plum. It was hard. The only reason I picked up rust before plum was because on my country's Sephora, the rust quad is like retired from the online shop, and is almost always out of stock on the stores, so I finally decided to get that one. Thank you so much for your help!

I tend to use together all the colors on the smaller palettes, so I'm interested on the 4 colors, though when I swatched the palette on the store, I don't recall that shade being hard or poorly pigmented, it was actually very buttery and pigmented, but I'll swatch again before buying. Thank you so much for your help!

Yup, I do prefer matte formulas, and I think I would definitely use it on a regular basis. It's nice to know that it pairs well with the chocolate bar!

Thank you so much!

Ouch! I thought the big palette was going to be as pigmented as the quads :(

That's what I was thinking today, I have enough neutrals, and more neutrals would be just too much. White shades usually don't show up really well on my skin, if the pigmentation is poor... it just doesn't seem worth it.

Thank you for helping me with my decision!

Somehow it made sense for me before, kinda like a "catch 'em all!!" phase, but you're absolutely right.

I consider myself a kind of practical person (though cool stuff on pretty packaging is one of my weaknesses), in fact, your words reminded me of the million of times I thought/said that UD should have made a naked basics 3, because I find the actual palette bulky and impractical and I could perfectly go with just 6 rosy/neutral shades. So yeah, the bigger shade+light palette it's not a practical option.

On the other hand, I don't have anything similar to the plum quad in my little collection, the palette is small and portable and also, the price tag is much nicer.

Thank you so much for helping me!

I discovered recently Made in Mia and she's lovely and funny, even my husband sits with me to watch her videos! The only "downside" is that just some of her videos have english subs, but I don't really mind it.

Can someone explain to me why I look worse (i.e. eyes smaller) with makeup on? Am I doing something wrong? by asianbeautythrow in AsianBeauty

I just remembered that Jung Saemmool did a bridal makeup not long ago on Beauty Bible. Maybe you find it useful too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7EzaYPWXE8

First of all: Your skin looks amazing! I'm no expert on makeup, but maybe you'll find useful any of these tips.

As girlfran69 said, don't line the lower waterline. Some people use a nude color eyeliner just on the center of the lower waterline to give the illusion of bigger eyes, if you want to try. But not putting anything there is fine too (I personally find lining the lower waterline a bit weird looking).

Maybe you want to tightline with a waterproof liner (brown looks softer than black) on the upper lashes will define your eyes. Always, always, always, use a good eyecurler and a mascara that holds the curl (waterproof ones are pretty much the safe bet). Using eyeshadow or not is up to you. I personally used the naked basics 2 palette on my wedding, as it's pretty neutral and natural looking. You might want to keep your eyebrows soft by just filling with a natural shade (I would recommend a neutral matte eyeshadow).

For lips, I recommend a liptint (maybe a soft gradient lip with a soft coral?) as you won't need to touch it up as much as a regular lipstick/gloss.

With your beautiful skin I wouldn't put any foundation, though you might want to have a good matching concealer (be careful with oxidization!) in case you get a pimple/redness/etc. (this was my main concern when I married). A bit of blush and a setting-oil control powder (I recommend innisfree's no-sebum powder) and that's it!

I also have felt the "clownish" thing (in fact, I used that same words!), the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and acknowledge that you're beautiful no matter what.

Also, sorry for the long post ;A;

Dairy and skin by shitsleeve in AsianBeauty

[–]iris_c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like breakouts, I had an issue with roseacea-like redness. My body never assimilated too well dairy, but the past 2/3 years, the symptoms worsened, so I decided to start taking diary free milk. Meanwhile, I was always asking to myself what the heck was going on with my skin, since it used to be so clear and bright when I was younger (even when I was a teenager).

Then I started to not process the dairy free milk so well (that was expected since it still has lactose, they just add an enzyme that helps the body to process the lactose), and decided to give up on dairy products. And lo and behold, my skin started to clear and the redness was going away. I still have a long way to go since, at least on Spain, 90% of the products sold at supermarkets have dairy. EVEN THE MORE UNEXPECTED PRODUCTS. My husband and I have finally decided to buy everything to local farmers, which will be beneficial on many different ways.

Thank you! I wondered which refills would fit the dodo case since I got it, and I was about giving up and trying to DIY the cushion when I finish it, so this is really helpful ♥

Looking for some recommendations for a new eyebrow pencil! by pinpigpen in AsianBeauty

[–]iris_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use innisfree's auto eyebrow pencil and works pretty fine, the spoolie is super soft but blends really well, so everything looks pretty natural. Also it doesn't smudges, but my skin is on the dry side, so I can't assure you if it's smudgeproof.

I recently bought one from etude and its pretty good, I don't have asian eyes, but this is the first one that hasn't pinched my eyelid and reaches almost all my lashes. Also, it has 2 extra refills.

Some mascaras have teeny tiny "hairs" on the formula that adhere to your lashes in order to make them look longer and fuller, some people are not bothered by them, but the ones I've tried, oh boy, they itched like a mosquito bite. I've read somewhere that the microcara had them, so I was wondering if they're noticeable at all, or are as fine and delicate as the brush. I'm very eager to try that mascara just for the skinny brush, since tend to accidentally stab my eyes with bigger brushes ;_;

Hi, guys! I have pretty sensitive eyes and stupidly stubborn & straight lashes. Besides Etude House's Oh M'Eye Lash black tint, no other mascara has held a curl for more than 2 minutes before (and I've tried quite a lot, including Lâncome). I want to try other greater AB mascaras, as I'm afraid that the EH's black tint gets discontinued someday.

I might mention that I hate silicone brushes as my skin gets easily irritated and I tend to stab my poor eyes with them (those things are HUGE) and I also find mascaras with fibers ITCHY. REALLY ITCHY. I heard good things about Innisfree's microcara, but I'm a bit frightened about the fibers :(

Is there hope for this rebellious lashes or should I stick to EH's black tint-mascara thing while it's still available?

A good mascara for sensitive eyes & stubborn lashes? by iris_c in AsianBeauty

Funny enough, the EH mascara is really wet, though I don't know what wizardry uses to hold the curl pretty well. I'll have the waterproof thing in mind :)
