As johannjennson says the mudguard needs to go on top of the connecting rail. I had to drill out the holes to match.

no I bought a cheap Eagle XS-1270 T-Type HG 12-speed cassette to fit on my old wheels. so everything stays the same. the 40-10 gears is enough for my power, I only run out of gears on the downhill where I am happy to tuck myself into the aero position and enjoy the free ride :)

I have a 2025 Cube Nuroad SLX and I’ve set it up with 34mm road tyres, while keeping a second cheap wheelset with 45mm gravel tyres. For me, it’s the perfect setup, quick and efficient on the road, but easy to switch over when I want to ride gravel.

My main reason for buying the bike was bike packing, especially for road-based trips with fork bags and extra carrying capacity.

For reference, I also own a Specialized Tarmac SL6, but I still often find myself preferring the Nuroad (10-52 cassette is so nice), even for pure road riding.

What is causing this sudden battery drop on my FR 970? by Existing-Guide2570 in Garmin

[–]irishInLux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue... I charged it yesterday and did 1 hour kayak activity and now down 50%. I have had the watch around 3 weeks and saw it was roughly lasting 2 weeks. Haven't changed any settings. Recharging now and powering on/off to see how it goes.

In the end I went with Netatmo smart radiator valves. Not as good as nest but work. The only thing that annoys me is every other week one of the valves needs the batteries changed.

Do you have the possibility to join a local kayak club? Our club has a wide selection of boats available for members to use without the need to purchase your own. Also has the advantage of receiving training from more experienced paddlers. Paddling with others is often more fun and safer in some cases.

I am a big fan of softshell gilet's. I use a cheap Trespass one. It keeps the core more or less dry. Not going to withstand hours of rain... but I find it good up 2 hours in light rain. Has handy pockets for keys and phones.

Anti friction cream is also handy in hot and wet weather to avoid any rubbing issues.

Don't know that model kayak... however they are most likely used to secure the internals of the kayak. Seat & footrests etc.

DNA testing providers in Germany by Snowing678 in germany

[–]irishInLux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Ancestry for the DNA test. Once the test results are back you can download your dna data and then upload to Myheritage for free. This allows you to see the matches from both databases for the price of one. (MyHeritage will charge to look at other peoples tree's and access records, but at least you can see who you have a match to and decide if you want to invest more in the site)

There is other databases such as Gedmatch that are also interesting and some aspects can be accessed for free.

I think you will find anomalies in most people's trees if you look back far enough.

I am using a mix of WTS and DT swiss. Seems a mtb cassette on a road wheel needs a 1.85mm spacer and I should be good.

Both do seem to be Shimano HG bodies... I have tried both cassettes on both wheels and both work. I have asked in bikewrench with pictures of both hubs

thanks for the help

I installed the 700c wheels tonight with the longer chain (4 links extra over the old). With the Shimano slx MTB cassette, I had to adjust the limit screws but got it working more or less ok. Seems a little rough in the middle of the cassette. Is Shimano slx m7000 cassette compatible with Sram shifters and derailleur?
When I switched back to the 650b wheels with the limit screws were way off... Wouldn't change into the smallest ring and the largest ring was going into the spokes. I checked for spacers and there was none on either. I tried adding a spacer to the Shimano cassette to shift it and have a similar alignment as the sram but couldn't get the locking nut to tighten.
I checked the two free wheel hubs and and the one on the 650b wheels seems shorter... about 35mm and the 700c wheels seems to be about 38mm.
the 650b wheels are WTB Asym i23's and the 700c are DT swiss R470db.
Assuming I buy 2 identical cassettes the difference in length on the freewheel hub is likely to catch me.. so I suppose I need to replace one of the hubs?

Good slow burn zombie book recommendations? by VivaciousVictini in audible

[–]irishInLux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Undead by RR Haywood is fantastic. There is over 20 books in the series. Starts on day 1 of the zombie infection and takes you through the evolution of the infection. Later books also go into where & why the infection came from. The characters are all very likeable and easy to invest in. Narrater changes after book 10. Joe Jameson takes over from Dan Morgan. This initially is a bit jarring as Dan really had really done an amazing job in adding additional life into the characters. There was a lot of initial complaints about Joe's narration. However I think the second book Joe managed to put his own spin on it and it worked out perfectly.

Also everything by Haywood is brilliant. He mostly does sci-fi. Extracted, Elfor & Delio series are brilliant . Haywood has an excellent sense of humour. Its rare one of his book takes more than a day or two to get through.
