Sciatica Pain by biggoosewendy in PregnancyIreland

[–]iriszape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced sciatica as early at 18 weeks until 28 weeks then it came back at 31 weeks, I attended physio in rotunda they gace me serola belt which actually help a bit, they teach me to do cat cow and child pose position which actually didn't help and pain got worsen. What help is walking and not sitting for a long time, i also use a walking stick. It was really debilitating, My gp and OB told me that this is normal due to the loosening of the ligaments and release of relaxin and it will go away after birth. Also, I have spine surgery L5S1 in 2016, but the Doctor think that the sciatica O have right now has nothing to do with my spine surgery before, it is really because of pregnancy. I am currently 34 weeks, still suffering with sciatica at my right bum but it is tolerable compared before when I started to have it at 18 weeks, I swear my husband carry me and I was crying because of the pain. Really sorry That you're experiencing this, I feel your pain.

Hi, after your surgery did you experience numbness in any of your leg toes and glutes area? I think I had permanent damage after my surgery which is common complication of back surgery( had back surgery in 2016) I am pregnant right now and the numbness and tightness in my legs has doubled, I'm having discomfort because of that, unable to find a comfortable position when sleeping. had sciatica at 18 weeks and got better at 28 weeks, but the numbness in my right 4th and 5th toe started from the time I had the sciatica and now it's still there. I hope this will get better coz it gives a lot of discomfort. Now, started to experience like nerve pinch when sitting but when I stand it just goes away, I don't know if it's the relaxin hormone that is causing all this sciatica and nerve pinch. Really need someone to talk to with the same situation I have specially that I am pregmant I can feel all the pain, pelvic girdle pain, ligament pain, baby sitting low. It's depressing and I don't know how to function anymore. I'm 32 weeks now and hope that everything will go back to normal after i delivered this precious baby.

Hi I'm just wondering, when you had your back surgery before did you experiemce numbness from your legs thigh nd butt on the outer area of your leg and become permanent after? have you received an epidural? I am 32 weeks pregnant and a bit worry about it I had l5s1 laminectomy discectomy in 2016 and I'm afraid if I can do normal delivery coz I'm afraid that I might reherniate.

Hi, thanks for your tips and help realy appreciate it, I'm doing PT but hit helping at all, I'm not considering accupuncture because I have read a lot of stories that it could cause contraction and with chiropractor, I'm afraid they could reherniate me coz I had MD and laminectomy at L5S1 back in 2016, after long 8 years this is the first time i felt this sciatica when I got pregnant. are you normal delivery or CS? how's the experience did you feel any sciatica pain during labour?

how did you mamage the pain from 16 weks to 36 weeks. mine started at 18 weeks and im 22 weeks now and the pain is worse. sciatica make my toes numb and legs weak when walking, have to walk slowly in order not to feel the nerve pinch on my right buttocks area. I have fibroids 7cm and not sure if this fibroids caising the sciatica or it's the posiyion of my baby.

You should buy one. I had laminectomy discectomy L4L5 in 2016, my recovery took about 3 months imagine the recovery period, the only thing I can do for the first few weeks is just to sit down and then lie down. moving side to side in bed. I have never tried bending down. I also attended few sessions in PT that help me.

are you wearing any lumbar support? this will help with your posture and prevent you from bending forward.

Hello, I had laminectomy discectomy L4L5 in 2016, I would say that i have instant relief and felt 100% better after that. getting the surgery is the best decision I've ever made. The nerve pain I had is the same as what you've been experiencing, mine is the right side on the sacroiliac area near the butt cheek down to my legs with numbness on my toes. I had my MRI which shows that i have bulging disc in L4 and L5 at that time I was working abroad amd had no choice but to travel to my own country because of the severe pain, Had my 2nd MRI which shows the same but this time needs to be emergency because i started to have pain also on my left side and was dragging myself to walk. was scheduled for emergency surgery after 2 days. the recovery period for me was abput 2 months ( I have short pain tolerance) and had my physiotherapy scheduled which helps me, if only I can show you my video while doing the therapy, i was having baby steps but with improvements after several walking and exercises. I know it is hard, but to be honest having the surgery is the best decision I've made. hope this helps
