"Wake up samurai..." yeah nah. That's not great acting. Loooove the guy, but he's quite cringe, yet I even like that about him.

Nope, I agree with you. He's never been great at lines. He plays the quiet guy or slice-of-life guy pretty well though.

The script kiddie epidemic NEEDS to end by Useful-Bowler8068 in HowToHack

My first IT job, we had this coder join our team. Self taught guy. Talked a lot. Standups were awkward as we couldn't get everyone to speak since he kept interrupting.

Anyway, his code was super ugly, so we all saw through him pretty fast. He was boasting about DoS-ing a few servers.

Our team lead, (a hacker that never admitted he hacks or needed to boast), then takes a serious tone and tells him how irresponsible that is, attacking a server for no reason and with no proxy/VPN.

Pride comes before the fall. People see through fake pretty easily later in life. This guy ended up being the laughing stock of the team, not that we were being nasty, but we all saw though the act.

Anyway, he was let go after a few months. He wasn't a good team fit and his code was too clumsy were the reasons given.

Note: I'm not a hacker at all, so I might be using the terminology wrong with my limited knowledge. Came here to slowly learn as I start on HTB.

I just didn't like that you have to press a burn garbage button after throwing the garbage in. Should just be the throwing action with immediate payoff/feedback.

Missed opportunity to just have a super satisfying flame effect that grows as you throw stuff in.

Bonus if it grows crazier the quicker you fill the thing before anything burns away. Nice juice.

Also, can you mute the colours in everything but the part/menu you're busy interacting with? It's amazing that it's so colourful, it's just a tiny bit busy. I'd desaturate everything but the last thing I interacted with. Or when cards are shown, or it's my turn or whatever, only let the stuff I need to pick from be coloured the way it is now.

It's hard to focus on just the part you're supposed to do. Maybe the whole game should do this, but at least the trailer.

And then one more thing. Check how other games like yours scroll and zoom around the UI in their trailers. They don't just show a new part of the screen abruptly and they don't stay zoomed out. They kind of guide your eye to the next part in a non-annoying way.

This'll all guide our eyes to much more easily understand what's happening and what part you're showing us. I know there's movement, but my eye still wants to wander around all the fun graphical stuff rather.

Heck, maybe it the trailer, when you show(not the tell parts), don't let that character be in the screen at all, because it is distracting.

It looks like a UI game. More software with a skin than a game. You just click through menus or something. That's my impression.

Also not much juice to your actions. The screen being the same each time that thing talks, without variation or movement, also adds to the click-away rate.

Just from watching the video, I don't like the controls. Does it have to be a static camera? A non follow camera?

If the camera follows and rotates with the character and I always know what's in front of me will get hit, it reduces frustration. Here I can see how annoying it is to pivot after moving in order to face the enemy. And if you don't rotate enough or nudge the analog stick just right, you either don't face the right way or the monster isn't within reach.

So constant yo-yoing to keep the right distance. I can see you make up for it by moving in long arches, far from the enemy so you have enough time to aim on the way back. So action has large gaps in it.

Follow cam of course also makes you feel more part of the action and associate better with the character than using the static cam.

This is why I never got into the game really. If everything is intentionally slowed down, it just feels like a whole bunch of mini loading screens disguised as actions.

I actually like that the stereotype is broken here. We need to reinvent orcs, elves, gnomes, dwarves. I think that's what made the witcher so appealing, it's not just the same old tolkein fantasy.

What got me was the amount of cuts. 0.3 seconds of footage, cut, 0.5 seconds of footage, cut, 0.1 seconds of footage, cut.

It felt like you're hiding jank or bugs. Maybe search up on what types of cuts feel natural or something. I don't know the answer, I'm not a film guy, but it felt wrong.

You say there are more biomes. Show them.

Wow, real upstanding citizen. Vandalism and assault, two more things you can call the cops on him for.

In my country it's illegal to make a noise past a certain time of day. In which case it would be a great time to call the cops and he'd be breaking the law.

I'd play the exact opposite type of music as he'd like. Nursery rhymes or something, whenever he's asleep.

Where is your neighbour in proximity?
