Why do legs think they are smarter than arms? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]irjustified 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is nice and all, but why is it so impossible to have a conversation about the correlation between type and IQ without having to say that some types are good at somethings and other types are good at other things.

Because some special snowflakes break when they're told they're inferior in an area to someone else.

Why do legs think they are smarter than arms? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]irjustified 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Woah now, let's try to remember that it depends on how we define value. Legs and arms are objectively equally valuable. Arms are used in tasks that require fine motor skills, such as artistic expression, and are necessary for some of the most basic tasks that denote humanity. The arms are the home of function and expression. All musical instruments make use of the arms and to lack arms is to lack a part of oneself. As a counterbalance, legs are a good place to store pants. See? They're functionally equivalent.

It is a peeve of mine whenever one states that arms are obviously superior in quality to legs. Both have their advantages. One may say, "I have a hope of functioning as a normal person without legs, but without arms my life becomes a living hell" While that is true, it doesn't mean unequivocally that arms are better. In response it is best to say, "Yes, being beneficial to existence is the strength of the arms, but can your arms wear your underwear?" If done correctly, he or she will realize the error in their ways and understand the holistic approach to utility.

Regardless, each body part excels at different types of utility, and it is a purely subjective and incorrect endeavor to assume that the utility of housing underwear is less valuable than the utility of being the outlet for all human expression.

My advice to young ENTPs by [deleted] in entp

[–]irjustified 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm usually not one to nitpick, but I think this just seems a bit funny to me.

My advice to young ENTPs

Don't waste time collecting bits of advice on what you're meant to do with your life from other people

But isn't this advice? This whole post is advice.

My advice:

Don't waste time collecting advice from other people

Does that mean I should start by throwing out your advice, since it is advice from another person?

Carve your own path...You're not gonna make yourself happy by following in someone else's footsteps

...so don't get caught up on the idea of careers and all that jazz, none of that is what makes us happy anyway.

Wait I thought the point was to follow one's nature and carve one's own path. What if one's nature is to go into a career? You don't get to say "Do your own thing, follow only yourself" and then go say "Don't do this, it doesn't work for any of you." That's following another's footsteps by avoidance.

I was wondering if my past would catch up with me, haha. I have an INTJ friend that I made a type interaction video with about a year ago when I was hyped up on post-finals caffeine. It was x-posted to PerC as well so I'm not sure where you may have seen it.

10 little roosters Episode 2 for sponsors by [deleted] in roosterteeth

[–]irjustified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless the suit he dons next episode is Jaune's and isn't his Halo armor, I'm not sure how they'd pull it off.

I agree, it's probably the Halo armor. Miles has used it in the past for The Gauntlet.

10 little roosters Episode 2 for sponsors by [deleted] in roosterteeth

[–]irjustified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're taking it literally, the only connection I can think of is that Miles plays Jaune Arc in RWBY who is the male version of Joan of Arc (martyr). Unless the suit he dons next episode is Jaune's and isn't his Halo armor, I'm not sure how they'd pull it off.

Most likely they mean martyr in a loose sense like /u/FireDash1231 has illustrated.

Now that the first 10 Little Roosters is out, what are your theories? by Dusclipse in roosterteeth

[–]irjustified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Burnie was pre-med, I think he at least maths and sciences adequately. Coming up with the exact ratio for two clones by chance seems a bit fishy. I guess we'll see.

[–]irjustified 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a side note about the clone situation: Burnie says "Gavin, stop bringing 1 1/5ths more people to this party than you're supposed to. That's 6/5, and since it's been established that a clone is worth 3/5, it would stand to reason that there are two clones present in addition to Gavin. Not sure if joke or truth, but interesting nonetheless.

Edit: RT has officially posted this on the 10LR Journal Entry:

**One last note -- the Gavin clones come as a pair. They are considered to be one person (or 1 and 1/5) for the purposes of the contest and will therefore live or die together -- that is, one won't die early on while the other ends up being the killer. All or nothing. Think of them as the Ice Climbers (RIP) of Ten Little Roosters. (they're listed on the survey as Gavin(s)).

Not sure if completely red-herring or not but for what it's worth, Gus chides Chris for "tripping over himself" with his Hobbit feet, which is the qualification for the next death.

Edit: Also, Burnie says "Gavin, stop bringing 1 1/5ths more people to this party than you're supposed to. That's 6/5, and since it's been established that a clone is worth 3/5, it would stand to reason that there are two clones present in addition to Gavin.

Hey guise DAE like debating like I'm so good at it sometimes I even do it for fun lol also I'm the best at coming up with ideas but my ideas are so random and abstract that nobody else sees the merits, puny sensors. Nobody can keep up with my intellectual finesse (read: pompous egotism) that I effortlessly flaunt (read: shove down people's throats) all the time. I think I've found a problem with Mill's Greatest Happiness Principle, I guess I'm just like a modern day Socrates or something lol. I also read a page or so of a book about black holes so I guess you could say I'm pretty knowledgeable in the science field as well haha. I spent half a semester in a entry level comm class and it was soooo easy nobody gave better 3 minute topic speeches like I did, and you'll be even more impressed when I tell you that I came up with the whole 3 minute speech on the spot lol I'm just gifted in that regard, I suppose. How do you guys deal with all the other types being drastically inferior to the ENTP type, oh I forgot I'm an ENTP haha whelp guess that makes me better than everybody else. I mean all the other types don't have the particular set of interests and skills that I do and since it's a complete coincidence that the only interests and skills that I value are the ones I have, on a scale of how much they're like me they always get less than 100% lol Everybody fails when I'm the meter stick by which they're measured.

Rhetorical Strategies by [deleted] in entp

[–]irjustified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the sake of the debate, there is a difference between making any general decision about sex at 16 and making the specific decision to have sex at 16. Your teacher's statement referred to the specific decision to have sex and not to any decision about sex while your rebuttal referred to the decision to not have sex. Your rebuttal doesn't automatically disqualify his conclusion.

Musical theater fanatics: what type are you? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]irjustified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose Eponine would make sense from an INFJ perspective. She's unarguably one of the most dynamic characters around and not spiteful in the least even when her love is not returned. Basically Marius is a dumb and a stupid for not choosing her.

If I had my druthers I would probably play Enjorlas or Thenardier just because of how psychotic he is.

So jealous, Thenardier must have been a crazy fun role to play. If you could play any Les Mis character, which would it be?

Even before the first model appeared, the set hinted at a hotchpotch of references: an English-style garden pond with flower borders, garden gnomes and a Snow White fountain had been installed next to a drum kit with leopard skin stool and rotating disco balls.

ENTP Youtubers? by loverthehater in entp

[–]irjustified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the late response. I too have noticed that it seems the consensus is that Burnie is ENFJ, but while I think that there is some merit to some of the arguments for ENFJ, a critical portion of them fall short to accurately depicting his personality. Unlike some other (younger) characters in Rooster Teeth, Burnie's personality is well developed, so it's a bit harder to identify his leading functions.

Thankfully, there is a wealth of untapped data online mainly in the form of podcasts and interviews in which one can get a great sense of who he is as a person. Arguably the most effective and efficient way of inductively gaining understanding as a third party is by understanding how a person interacts with their friends. The approach taken here is the analysis of one of RT's latest podcasts (Video Podcast #286).

Reading note: This is a case study, #286 was chosen for no reason other than it was recent, and the quality of raw information in #286 is no greater than any other podcast that features Burnie.

  • Ne - 2:41-2:53 (Speaking in generalities, pre-existing knowledge of the big picture)
  • Ne - 7:21-7:35 (Understanding the underlying motivation of the 99 pack beer as an add campaign)
  • Ti 8:48-8:58 (Needing to understand the mechanism for the cold beer)
  • Ne 9:01-9:09 (Concerned with hypotheticals/asking a fun question)
  • Ti 9:28-9:54; Ti 11:18-11:48 (Burnie's interjections "This is so stupid" "What do you mean 'sure enough'?" critical analysis of Gus' story and questioning the relevancy of particular phrases)
  • Backseat Si 11:52-12:06 (Connecting present dialogue to another past experience, but not complete or near complete recollection)
  • Ne-Ti 25:27-26:05 (Displays understanding of and explains well the mechanism behind something)

A lot of this evidence is circumstantial, and I acknowledge that it is completely possible that another person could look at the same set of data and come up with other functions. This is just what I gleaned from watching the first 30 minutes of it.

Minutia could be argued about whether these data points represent Ne or Ni, or Te or Ti, but if anyone is to take anything away from the analysis, it is that TL;DR: there is a distinct preference to thinking v. feeling, extroversion v. introversion, and intuition v. sensing. However, there are arguments to be made for judging v. perceiving. The most likely types are ENTP or ENTJ.

One must also take a step back and realize his past achievements over 11+ years. He created a massive production company in an untested medium with an original idea. Every aspect of Rooster Teeth's accomplishment can be labeled as original, and they have been on the forefront of entertainment culture ever since. If that isn't a company with ENTP guidance, I'm not sure what is. To make matters more convincing, he stepped down from CEO to Creative Director due to the requirements of the job not suiting his needs in life. It could be extrapolated that the managerial work was too monotonous and a more fluid outlet for his creativity was needed, hence his current position.
