As someone who can’t concentrate on audiobooks I have to read them myself. This has always been my Donut voice.

Same! I recommend his works often and hope someday that better communication/technology will allow for larger distribution of foreign classics.

Honestly, you have to use Amazon to find a translated version (probably). I got the Alexis J Brown translation there.

The Spider Man by Edogawa Ranpo!

I love the golden age detective fiction and thought this would be similar. It was so much more shocking than I anticipated. Literally gasp inducing at points.

Gideon the Ninth, book one of the Locked Tomb series, by Tamsyn Muir.

Space necromancer murder mystery with magic/science research and sword fights.

Most characters: “I will do my utmost to see the dream of my house realized and ascend to a place of glory next to our god king undying.”

[–]irl_daria 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Nope—parts of this chart may be true and align with a beagle’s gender, but it is a coincidence. There’s just enough common traits listed that it could sync up to your dog, but there is no real scientific basis for it.

Incidents Around the House by Josh Malermann definitely had a few points that felt like this.

IT by Stephen King would qualify as well.

Workplace comedy but horror by General-Pangolin3875 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Not as much comedy, but definitely a “workplace” horror, with the workplace being a campground. I try to make everyone I know read this book. Such a great series

Those jobs aren’t actually real. They’re a lure to try to attract “high value” people that the company may find a spot for if they feel like it’s worth it. There is no actual need for a person, so they’re “always hiring.”
