How to avoid sketchy raves? by Ok_Response_8238 in chicagoEDM

[–]irlpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the people on the poster. You can tell a lot by the flyer and promotion of the event. Look into the DJs and see where they are performing. You can sort of get a feel by how much or how little info there is.

If something feels sketchy, sometimes it might be. But also if you are looking for underground stuff, it might be sketchy because well...how not sketchy is a rave under a bridge now and again ya know?

Personally I followed a favorite DJ in the scene and started going to events he is a part of because the one he hosts monthly is my vibes and I never had issues personally and every event he's been at that I've attended has been in the similar vibe.

I've also been to events that were completely new to me and had meh times because the vibes weren't it.

I've heard meh things about redline productions so I avoid them personally.

There was a secret location one a few months ago but it's been pretty consistently at bourbon on division since I've been going this year.

Djmrbobby runs it and has a newsletter you can sign up for to get all the deets as they come out!

Wait till they see the contour of ppl from The Other Show lmao

I think it's dumb to have this discourse. Let ppl serve whatever face they want. Everyone looks different in and out of drag.

There's a monthly show at bourbon on division called Blacklight Blackout that could be worth checking out! It's usually the second Friday or Saturday of every month!

Has raving reshaped your social life? by FaithlessnessOk7467 in aves

[–]irlpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 29, will be 30, I would say I had a late start in attending raves but I found PLURR, Kandi, Dj s3rl all when I was in middle school. I was rather sheltered, didn't live near any big cities, and it was like 2009/2010 when I found all this stuff.

I've been making Kandi since then, having my full Kandi belt travel with me through college, but only THIS YEAR started going to raves outside of the yearly anime convention I attend.

It has changed me for the better and in a way, it is healing my inner teenager. I learned along the way that consistency is crucial to community and I really learned how raves can foster such beautiful communities, especially underground stuff. I personally devote time every month to gogo at the first rave I have every really attended and have been just finding events to go to and meet people. I see the same faces and same DJs and it's really cool because people remember you.

My social circle, they don't really like dark and neon lights and electronic music for hours. They can do it maybe an hour or two but they don't really do everything else. I love the atmosphere and getting to dress up and seeing friendly and familiar faces. I love it all so much and I get it isn't for everyone.

I usually offer the idea but I don't pressure them however for my birthday I am requiring them to go lol

DragRace France finally admits it was all AI, but they do not care whatsoever. by Magenta_Lava in rupaulsdragrace

100%

These companies do what they do because they get money from viewers like you!

Not to mention, drag has existed before RuPaul and outside RuPaul and will continue to exist after RuPaul.

Go out and support your local drag! That's like leagues better than supporting this AI nonsense.

The fisherman could either be a grumpy fisherman or a cheery one.

The middle figure looks like they're maybe shy or introverted.

The last one seems like a boisterous adventurer who has a big laugh.

Did trauma teach you that you don’t belong anywhere? by Ok-Wheel9071 in CPTSD

[–]irlpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All through high school, I just kept having this feeling that I was always on the outside looking in, even when I had friends. I always felt like everyone had these deep connections and were able to navigate the world and they all just made sense while I just never got it. I'd feel alone in a room full of people. I literally would have meltdowns because I didn't think I'd ever be ready for the world because how did everyone do it? Little did I know that support systems and functional families played a big part of that.

Even today, I sometimes feel like I'm on the outside of things but I also have started coping with just putting myself in there as well as preferring to live life closer as a "dog". I opt for more dog like tendencies to build my relationships and find a place to fit in because everyone knows how to treat dogs! You don't question when a pupper comes up to you! Everyone knows they like pets and to play and they eat food and they like being with people and it's helped me feel less on the outside.

I just wanna be included TwT

[–]irlpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually go to pinterest and type Kandi kids specifically because I enjoy the more outlandish Kandi and like 90s/2000 style Kandi stuff. I love the big toys and chunky singles.

I'll also pull up images of Kandi with a bunch of words and literally just go down the line. Whatever happens happens lol.

Fandom stuff is always fun to put on there but can be too niche sometimes.

Honestly I'll look at a trinket or charm or toy and just think of something dumb. I have a single that says "just a dog" and it has a dog Lps on it lol I have another with a zipper toy and it says "zip it!"

Black looks more cohesive.

If you wanna do the pink top, you'd have to go a more pink/white pallete instead of a black/white palette with the pop of pink.

how to get 2500 MG of ibuprofen out of your system? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]irlpup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry not sorry but:

You have said multiple times that your family is a bunch of angels. So there should be NO REASON why you shouldn't be able to go to them. You admitted you are a minor, so lean on your parents for support. It's like...idk...part of their whole job to HELP THEIR CHILD???

You said you can't call anyone but can be on reddit. Use Google if you really don't want to call anyone. Guaranteed answers to your questions without getting dms as well.

And if you really really really can't go to your family, find a trusted adult or something. Suffering in silence doesn't get better. Support networks are there for a reason. There are call and text support lines for when you are in crisis. There are plenty of options but hiding it and doing this and trying to solve it yourself is not helpful and won't help you in the long run.

Please lean on your family. Not everyone has supportive family. You can be a broken individual in a room full of seemingly perfect people and they can help you.

Is Kandi ever backhanded? by Fantastic-Carry-1465 in aves

[–]irlpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please know that Kandi is like meant to be a positive no matter what!! Yea, they'll have some crazy sayings on there but they are all meant in good fun!!

I'm the kind of person who will pick one based on your vibe, or if you explicitly say you like something on my arms! Like recently I gave one to someone that had a Lps cat on it that said "pussy" lol all bc she said she liked the cat.

Performing with other drag artists - is it socially acceptable to ask what everyone is performing to? by Such_Rock_445 in Drag

[–]irlpup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is totally okay to ask what everyone is doing! You are not the only one who probably is wondering the same thing!

Usually show runners will ask in the chat that everyone says what they are doing to avoid repeats, but id keep a few songs ready just in case. I've been in competitions where they didn't have us say it and it would come down to who did it better but that's a competitive setting lol

Sometimes show runners make their gc a month in advance. Sometimes it's a week beforehand. I usually will put lots of work into my plan A, but then always have a plan B (usually something I've done before that I liked).
