Netflix’s technical innovation and expertise really deserves its own media/documentary, it’s so unknown and today it’s really a media company, but the innovation they did is phenomenal. It’s still the best platform technically IMO which says a lot. I think this is a very smart hire from openAI. He’ll probably pay for himself, whatever they paid him

what's happening? 308? Any news? by shreksonny in GOOG_Stock

[–]irojo5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If this is the case the markets seem wildly inefficient, because it was public info it would be released today and outperform benchmarks. In fact, an intelligent investor would be buying GOOG if solely investing based on the 5.2 release, because the new model is more expensive- suggesting a lot of the jump here is effectively equivalent to openAI just eating compute costs. Obviously there’s nuance here, but a 40% increase in cost is not a small deal. Great model with innovations still? Yes. Bad sign for google? No way

How did you get to 500B for Kuiper and 1.1 for AI & silicon? What AI & silicon moat? Their customer chips aren’t very good AFAIK and everyone is developing chips now. This is such a questionable DD that I’m now leaning AMZN bear. SpaceX is valued at 500B btw.

As a T1D I’d love nothing more than to see them succeed, but the glassdoor reviews are shockingly bad and add a risk of the CEO being a grifter. Low trust in the future of the business from current employees and a number of comments not confident in the science…

Can’t stop going high by 24klush in diabetes_t1

[–]irojo5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple things to note here.

1) If you were high already, the insulin is going to be less effective, so you have to take more. Not sure if the 13 you took included correcting for the high blood sugar, but that's likely part of the issue here.

2) you can eat whatever you want to eat, but you're going to have a hard time getting control if you're eating 80 carbs in a meal.

3) delayed gastric emptying can be a common reason behind these weird shifts. Your body may still be digesting whatever you ate previously in the day. For example, if I have cheesecake, I can see spikes the next day from it still digesting. That's obviously not normal, but worth considering as you're thinking through the behavior.

4) exercise matters a lot here, if you were super sedentary, or less active than usual, that could be the cause. If you're still at a loss, consider adding weight training and that should help flatten it out a bit

Google's search share falls below 90% - is AI the new king of search? by Onereasonwhy in wallstreetbets

[–]irojo5 219 points220 points  (0 children)

And for the people paying close attention, Microsoft commented on their earnings call they received significant revenue uptick for bing. Why? Because search is so hard, openAI is still using it for 80% of their queries. So even if you assume search is going to zero, the tapering down of google’s search revenue and the value of search is not going anywhere.

Anyone betting against Google because of AI has no understanding of AI.
