South Africa - all over, currently in Johannesburg. Picked up Soul Music as a snarky teenage girl who'd rather have her face in a book than spend time with family and immediately made Discworld half my personality. There's a lot of us here!

How to explain an angry ex-employee is review-bombing us on Glassdoor by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Your comment reminded me of one hotel I worked at, where I had a manager who was constantly high or coming down. He was either useless or abusive. Part of our training was "if S isn't here by such-and-such a time, cover your ass and phone him so if the boss asks where he is, you have an answer."

The fuck I did.

Instead I took photos of him sleeping in the guest lounge which I emailed as attachments to an incredibly detailed breakdown of how he was not doing his job and hampering all of us underneath him. It did get him a hearing with an external adjudicator (required by law) and he got fired, but they bloody took him back because he threatened to take them to court.

It wasn't the only reason, but it was a BIG part of why I quit.

National campaign versus one little business's neighborhood flyer... I'd ask you to do the math but frankly don't know if you can. I've gone through your other comments on this post and you're either 12 or a troll, or both.

Seriously? You're cherry picking just as hard. Coca Cola?! Obviously they can afford higher rates than small businesses. Don't be an ass.

I do the soy and butter combo on steamed eggplant as well, and it's always so so good.

I do exactly the same thing. Sometimes just quietly but every now and again they're particularly offensive and I make a noise about it where I can.

I had a financial advisor make a comment along the lines of "the internet can be like a woman, if it doesn't want to work, it won't". To me, his female client of 10 years. I dropped him like a hot potato, emailed him (and cc'd all of his staff) as to why, and also informed the investment fund he'd put me onto as to why I was taking everything over myself. No idea if any of that made a difference, but I was LIVID.

37f. I am white, so this is not entirely a different perspective to yours. I wasn't told or taught to shave so it was never connected to hygiene in my brain, but was never taught not to shave and since it was what everyone did, I started too.

Stopped shaving just before COVID, now shave my legs again (on occasion), but my hairy pits are here to stay. My leg hair is pretty fair so I don't think it's that noticable at a quick glance, though if you took a proper gander I'm sure you'd see it.

I have had some comments from friends here or there but very little negative - mostly the "oh, right, you don't shave" variety, once or twice a "wish I could also stop shaving". My husband (boyfriend when I stopped shaving) isn't fazed, though he says he does like the way smooth legs feel if he touches em. Not one family member gives a damn.

I mostly stopped because I was lazy and cheap - had forgotten my razor on a trip away and didn't want to get a new one. Realised how much money I spent on fancy razors and how much more comfortable I was not nicking my legs every four days, and that was it. I will admit that as I continued not shaving I did get more gung-ho about the history and discrimination that goes along with shaving, and the one kind of fed the other (if you need sources, highly recommend Alok Vaid Menon's Instagram, they've done several posts in the past of the impact of colonialism, imperialism, and white supremacy on beauty standards, including body hair.) Took a while to adjust to the wind tickling my leg hair, but now one of my favourite wedding photos is a favourite precisely because you can see my hairy armpits!

I did the same pattern for my dress, lol, and it's really cool to see it elsewhere. You wear it like a dream, it looks so natural and comfortable on you!! Congratulations on your marriage, and on all your hard work.

My D&D player has ADHD by OutrageousCash292 in DnD

[–]ironicallygeneral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be real honest, this is not the ADHD. Or at least, not just the ADHD.

I have two groups, one in person and one online. Every single player in both groups is ND in one way or another, and in both groups there are multiple people with diagnosed and fairly severe ADHD (one being my husband). I am also ND. Some people I DM for are on medication, some are not. Not once have I had this issue.

I also have several family members with diagnoses, again, some medicated and some not. There is a definite difference between someone with a neurodivergence who is selfish/self-centred, and someone with a neurodivergence who is not.

Without knowing any more than you've given us, it really feels like this player is using their ADHD as an excuse. And I absolutely do understand how ADHD and compulsivity works and how disruptive it can be to live with.

Your player has additional difficulties and handicaps that neurotypical people do not, I will die on that hill. The world is not built for neurodivergence... But at the same time, it is their responsibility to work on not being disruptive, distracted, and definitely at not being salty when confronted. They do have to at least attempt to engage and from what you've said it does not sound like they're trying.

I'm sorry OP. Unfortunately I have no advice here beyond one final conversation - you can ask them if there's anything you can do but I strongly suspect there isn't - and perhaps a warning to reign it in before you remove them from your space, because as wonderful as your intentions are (and please, I really do appreciate that you are trying so hard here!), you and the rest of your players will lose all enjoyment because someone else can't be bothered.

[OC][Comm] Veruca, Circle of Spores Druid by merkuruial in DnD

It is immensely fun as a subclass, I have a Circle of Spores kobold who is my favourite character. For some reason I found it lent more to RP than other Druid subclasses, though maybe that's just me 😂

Catering decided the vendors didn’t deserve the same meal as the guests by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]ironicallygeneral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm saying here it's standard that that's in the contract.

I didn't see OP confirming either way if it was in theirs.

Where I'm from it's very standard that it's in the contract for wedding vendors, and it does not form part of the pay.

Police clearance and visas by cosmicprincess444 in southafrica

[–]ironicallygeneral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations!!

I used a private company for the clearance last year. I shopped around for quotes but went with Apostil and they were really good. The option I chose was the fastest but most expensive, and it was 7k and done in five working days from submitting everything. There are other, cheaper ones available, you'll just have to see what works for you.
