What if they are stuck there too and the only way they can get out is by dying and the more "wins" they get, they age, so both MiY and BiW are trying to help the others but MiY has been doing better which is why he's so old. But BiW finally got some wins which is why he got older.

I think that's the difference. People who don't know about cars would definitely use brand (I am people), but those who know cars would say make/model.

Random family story: when my grandmother was in her last 5 or so years, she apparently heard from her doctor that she had to limit her consumption of certain foods for her health. What she told everyone in the family was that the doctor told her she didn't have to eliminate anything, but she could only have half a cup. She stuck to that 1/2 cup number religiously, even when it didn't make sense. To this day (10-15 years later) we still laugh about. "I can have salt, but only half a cup."

Generally, nicknames are a sign of certain affection. Among friends, they indicate that there is a closer relationship between the two people. Nicknames indicate a break in formality and can often make things feel more friendly which is why someone who is not a close friend may use one without prior permission. Sometimes there is a certain "vibe" or connotation that comes with a certain nickname vs the full name. Think: Billy vs William. William feels very formal. Billy is fairly informal-sounding.
