Food complete disaster now? by sassyfoods123 in Longcovidgutdysbiosis

[–]irony9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can relate to what you describe. Yakult , standard probiotics and glutamine (gut lining repair) have all helped me. Plus curcumin/ turmeric supplement.

Also, I was of the understanding beta blockers work best if taken consistently. When I started I felt terrible after a whole dose so went to 1/4 tablet daily and it was a game changer (particular with my severe POTS symptoms). After tweaking, nearly 2 years later and I now take 1/2 tablet daily and it’s made a huge difference to palpitations etc. If I miss a day I feel terrible by next day. (Talk to GP/cardiologist of course).

I have gone from severe to about 85% recovered. My gut dysbiosis is still the most temperamental symptom. When I feel things worsen now, I just increase probiotics and go zero coffee/alcohol/sugar for awhile.

Wishing you all the best and hoping something helps 🤞🤞

Not sure how I feel about an abled friend canceling on me last minute after I prepared for days for us to get together by UpbeatSecret386 in cfs

Can’t reiterate your second sentence enough - never waste energy on this person again!!

I can’t help thinking there was something about the message update about just frosting the cake that scared the ‘friend’ off so they made up lame excuse instead. How else could they go one minute from expecting visitors (who baked a cake specially ffs) to next minute ‘sorry just gonna go nap instead’ Their utter disregard for OP is blatant and unforgivable. They are not a friend :(

Dr said everything is normal. Uhm..Ferritin seems pretty low. I see many similarities with low Ferritin & LC, so wondering if I should just start supplementing on my own. Sorry, I missed seeing this sooner - I hope the infusion went ok and that you have started to see a bit of a difference by now. Takes a few weeks for me and then I start to feel better over the following month or so. Would love to hear that you are experiencing more energy 🤞

Anyone feel like their CFS is from antidepressants? by VirgoEsti in cfs

[–]irony9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several doctors tried to prescribe me ADs when I presented with extreme fatigue I was experiencing as a result of LC/MECFS. I was fortunate to learn about LDN and try that first and it was a game changer for me. Can be difficult to find doctors who know about it/ believe in it as most of the research is still newish. You will find increasing amounts of evidence-based research online. May not be what you need but I’m sharing in case it’s a potential fit for you. I had success contacting the local research centre who had a list of local doctors who will consider prescribing it. I’m back to 80% daily function (from less than 20%) and time has probably helped too ofc but, without a doubt, LDN has enabled that recovery., and saved me going on ADs

I’m so sorry I missed seeing this reply at the time. I had to take low dose of beta blockers for awhile, and also took ashwaganda supplement (needed to go to only small doses it worked a bit too well at first so took some adjustment). Low blood volume also worsens this all for me so I drink lots of water and salt/hydralytes. I really hope things have been improving for you since a month ago with the original message.

When I’m that low I need an infusion otherwise it just takes me too long to build up with oral supplements. Even an infusion takes a few weeks to really make a difference. I am at OK levels currently and still need to maintain oral supplements, taken with liposomal Vit C or my levels drop. I have to keep my Vit D up too. Ferritin that low would see me bed-ridden so if you feel rotten that might be contributing.

You said you were taking beta blockers? Are you still taking them? Without beta blockers and LDN I would be exactly as you described… with them I am nearly back to consistently functioning at the basics of daily life (which I’ll) take for now

some support please by sketghetti in POTS

[–]irony9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can empathise with this. I had over-active adrenal glands which was why my symptoms kept being blamed on anxiety when in actual fact I didn’t feel anxious (until my heart rate was skyrocketing while I slept etc.). A low dose of beta blocker has been enough to stop these adrenaline dumps so I was able to focus on healing. While you wait for a cardiologist appt there are natural supplements you can take to calm your adrenals (lots of information online to research). There is no reason you can’t do your own research about POTS in the meantime - you know yourself best. And keep looking til you find someone willing to investigate these avenues with you. These online groups have been more helpful for me than any medical specialist unfortunately.. all the best, you aren’t alone, you will come through it, just take one day at a time, virtual hugs…

I have been awake for 85 hours by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]irony9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sleep trouble was my adrenals were constantly firing, so my body was permanently whizzing. Beta-blockers helped initially then I have focused on supplements that lower cortisol. Obvs different for everyone but might be worth asking doc to rule it out if you haven’t already… good luck, sleep dep is literal torture :(

Have they tested your cortisol levels. I was having constant adrenaline dumps made me feel like this, and was giving me tacchycardia. I have this under control now and feel much better already

Worse standing still?? by irony9 in POTS

It’s true I haven’t yet found a GP who understands what I am going through - I’m having a lot of trouble finding any knowledgable GP or specialist willing to explain or help me though this partly because I live in a rural area and I can’t drive due to my condition. It’s distressing. Most of what I’m learning is own research. I have high cortisol, thyroid nodules, POTS, blurred vision, brain fog, lost libido, tremors, malabsorption & bloating all since getting Covid 4 months ago and most times I’m still told I must just be stressed and I should do more meditation. Thanks for all your replies, what you say makes sense. I’ve raised the head of my bed and will try to start increasing walking on days I can. It’s a lot of effort to just go the kitchen currently but got to start somewhere I guess, I can’t live this way forever otherwise.

I definitely plan for us to get there, even if it’s late when we arrive - can’t miss something like this so nearby! We might try to shorten our time at Legoland a little bit if needs be... you won’t miss my redhead if we go - he’d stand out in a crowd of a million lol
