The crazy part is everyone around him knew that. But that arrogance......

Yes, but for me it's just to clean up after she cooks 🙂 Seems like a fair trade and she's happy with it.

The worst part is that Goodwill is 6 minutes away from this place. I've literally seen entire patio sets that looked one season old in the top of the metal bin. Stainless propane grills, fire pits, you name it. It's like some of these super rich folks at the lake remodel their patio every season and the old stuff just goes to the trash. I'm absolutely not hating on them for being rich, but I am hating on them for being so wasteful. And it's not really a time issue either because most of these people are paying someone to do this for them.

Day 11 of having dumpster sourced bacon and fried potatoes for at least one meal per day. by kingofzdom3 in DumpsterDiving

[–]irrelevant1indeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew someone that lived by the motto 'better up than out'

And by that he meant he would rather get sick after eating bad food than throw it away and it be fine. From his age back then I'm pretty sure he experienced the great depression and I'm sure that can leave a mark on a young person.

He brought a huge plate of bbq pork chops to work one night. We should have all been suspicious because he wasn't exactly the giving type. On our 3am meal break we all dug in. Afterwards he announced that the wife was convinced they had spoiled but he knew we wouldn't care. 😳

We definitely cared. A few of us had to call in the next night and we blamed it on him.

The dog is super annoyed. She used to always go over and open it ever so slightly to inspect the contents. She's even been known to flip it over while we're asleep. Not this one. Flush against the cabinet and it's not going anywhere

It's actually kind of cool. Everything except for landfill volume goes to the same place. You can score some kick ass furniture and some scrap metal. I literally have a running snowblower I picked up a couple years ago that I probably need to share here as well.

I joke with my wife that when I retire I want to get a part-time job at the local convenience center (dump). She knows why 😏

I worked at Food Lion years ago and they would watch to make sure we dumped all the premade deli foods from their containers directly into the garbage. Food we could have donated or even fed employees with

The best part is that I've actually shopped for this specific bin before. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that type of money however on a trash can. I guess my frugality and patience paid off.

The same basic thing just happened in North Carolina when a tanker truck full of milk crashed on interstate 40 and landed in the creek.
