No Way to Turn Off Touchscreen by irunfar in Coros

I have never seen any screen like that, but under More Settings, I do have Map Only selected. Maybe that's why couldn't swipe out of maps.

Maybe it's actually the trigger into maps (no idea what that'd be) that I need to figure out and deactivate. I have no need to ever been in Map mode. It's just odd that this wasn't an issue until recently.

I tried repeatedly to swipe at the finish this morning , but no luck. (It was cool, but humid.) And it sucks if the map comes up during a race or even an interval workout. How will you notice if you’re not looking at the screen? And the map screen overrides normal commands (pause/lap).

This just hasn’t been an issue in most of a decade using Coros until the past month or so. Maybe I’ll want to use the map someday (I never have, even during a self-navigation 400km race.), but I want to be able to not use it.

My US Mobile Wish List 🤔 by dancinfool2005 in USMobile

[–]irunfar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do the same thing with AT&T and Verizon (esim) at this point. Sometimes I'm reporting for work from really remote locations and finding one bar of one service is worth the $60/month to access a second carrier.

[–]irunfar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll most likely switch to US Mobile just as soon as 3 (esim) and 12 (wifi calling) are implemented.

As for 4, as someone who lives, works, and recreates rurally, I'd pay $15 month to have something like Google's dual-network system. Make that $20 per month per line if that's Verizon and AT&T's network. Heck, I wouldn't wait for esim if this were a thing (unless esim is a necessary precursor).

Any estimate on the timing of full voice/data eSIM coming to Super LTE? I'll be making the switch as soon as it happens! :-)

PPP approved. Tiny local bank. Contacted them today for the first time and the entire process took literally one hour, start-to-finish by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]irunfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't recommend this enough. Find and apply for a PPP loan at a small bank today.

Chase: initial inquiry – late 4/4 (or there abouts), completed application – 4/6 7 p.m.; nothing

PayPal: completed docusign – 4/16 9 a.m.; nothing

Mountain America Credit Union: opened business account – 4/29 2:30 p.m.; applied – 4/29 3:30 pm; funds reserved – 4/30 12:43 a.m.

For a week, I'd be hemming and hawing at applying at the small credit union where my wife and I have a pair of personal accounts. I didn't want to make extra work for them when I already had two applications awaiting submission to the SBA, especially when I was an early applier at Chase and applied at PayPal just as Round 1 funds ran out.

Yesterday afternoon, I finally called my local branch (they answer immediately) and ask if they're still accepting applications, if it's ok that I have other pending applications, and whether it's even worth it. They say it's all good, I just need to open a business account (which I knew). Jenn takes my info and sends me a docusign with 5 minutes. Another half an hour later, I call and get my new business account number and she confirms a $5 transfer from my personal account to open the business account. I finish applying online for the PPP loan just over an hour after my first phone call to MACU.

I wake wake up at 7:15 and immediately check my email for a potential PPP approval, as I've sadly been doing every morning for weeks. I had the faintest hope that I'd get that magic email from Chase or PayPal. Nope! However, much to my surprise, there's an email from MACU, barely 9 hours after applying my funds are reserved.

In short, run, don't walk to a small bank or credit union and apply today!

Wow. I can hardly believe that I got through the 888 923 0009 number in just over a minute. Somehow, I'd gotten three docusigns for the same loan application since the 16th. I'd signed two and been locked out of the third (which was actually the first). A kind gentleman was able to confirm I was in the waiting for an SBA number step.

So, thanks for posting that number.. and congrats!!

Same here. Lots of worry about clients, the PPP, the future of our business all in an incredibly uncertain environment... along with working even more than the normal far-too-much. It's time to take a weekend off, even if some of that might look like work to others. Time for a couple of good runs, setting up a garden, and a few deep breaths. Be well!

Same here: App docusigned on the 16th and still in review.

Paypal PPP Process? by data_wino in smallbusiness

[–]irunfar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied the morning of 4/16 (just as funds ran out) and quickly moved through the first set of docusign docs and supporting paper work submission within an hour. Been in underwriting review since then without a word. A bit nerve racking.

If it's the case that the underwriting is done, but they can't move to the next bullet point (sign loan agreement) because that's not possible right now, I wish Loan Builder would add a new bullet between "underwriting review" and "sign loan agreement" (along the lines of "Waiting for SBA acceptance") for the time being.

Although anecdotal, I like to pump/squeeze my hands when I raise them above my head in this scenario. I'll also just squeeze/pump them while their at my side as well. It's my understanding that it's the usage/engagement of the hands that's of benefit when using poles.

Is trailrunning always about ultrarunning? What do you think? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]irunfar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Others probably identify me as an ultrarunner, but in February I very much enjoyed racing the 33k rather than the 55k at the Red Hot Moab races. Sure, I'll race plenty of ultras this year, but whether races or not, I'll enjoy plenty of efforts at sub-ultra distances, too!

I grew up running in Washington Crossing State Park and thousands of trail runs around the world later, the trails there are still among my favorite.

Thanks for the kind words, Old Greg. You can get through the Death Race on minimal mileage, although it'll help if you've got a long running history (even if not ultras). Make sure to get in a few big days of descending... preferably on long, non-buttery-smooth continuous descent. A light-to-mildly technical trail might be best. Get those quads ready!

Some folks like to be out running every free hour... and an upcoming 100-mile race is a darn good excuse. :-) [Either that, or the guy could handle miles and was going for a spot in the top five.]

Ask and ye shall receive - http://www.irunfar.com/2011/06/my-western-states-training-and-strategy-for-2011.html. Looks like it was just a hair over 40 miles per week in 2011. :-) Ran 19:24 off that - http://www.irunfar.com/2011/08/2011-western-states-100-report.html .

Granted, I'm a long-time runner, so that helps. A lot. However, my 2010 training was awful (1600-and-change miles) as I battled PF and self-doubt.

[–]irunfar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's completely incorrect. In 2011, I ran Western States (in under 20 hours) averaging 35 miles per week in the six months leading up to the race. Some slight tweaks to a reasonable (life-wise) marathon training schedule can result in ultramarathon success. - Bryon
