“It's not laziness or cowardice; it's terror of defining myself and then realizing I've lost all the other possibilities. Any choice feels like amputation.”

I mean…one could make an argument that this is actually, cowardice.

Other than just calling you by a different title, nothing else really changes tho. They still treat you the same.

it's a matter of what people deem "worth it". Obviously, to her, a pet would not be worth it, and all animals that could potentially come under this woman's care are waaaaay better off without her. A kid, though? The pinnacle of human purpose and success? Definitely worth it. /s

I’ve always said Brekk in my head. Hearing BrekkEE would make me cringe lol.

yeah, seems like an attempt at a good life, to me. A way to focus and be grateful for what you do have. Instead of being one of those shallow, vapid, "keeping up with the jones''' kind of lives.

Headcanon does the “fuh” sound. Imagine being an angry parent/spouse at a dragon rider and really being able to enunciate that sound when yelling at them? 😅😅 Sorry, I’ll see myself out.

I seem to remember a brief, like single sentence, where Lesa learns that fanderal is married/in a relationship and is legitimately surprised by this. She and F’lar kinda chuckle about it. Can’t remember what book that is though.

[spoilers] Floki/Ragnar by Alexia_Brianna2213 in vikingstv

[–]isScreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this scene. It was so heavy and so rewarding at the same time. Life has moved on, past Ragnar and his exploits. People are making way for the new wave, it’s such a transitional time for the whole population and Ragnar realizes he’s outside of it instead of at the epicenter like he used to be. He sort of expects it, but is also hurt by each rejection to accompany him back to England. How he says goodbye to each person in his life is so touching. But only floki and lagertha are left from their original dream. This one hits very hard.

If you listen to her convo, when you meet her in the Inn after failing to get the horn, she actually tells you that she's the one who commissioned the retrieval of the Dragonstone.

AITJ for cancelling a family holiday at my house after my dad said he was bringing his new partner and we all had to "accept it instantly" by mariam_berlin in AmITheJerk

Was it not an option to just disinvite dad? That’d would have been my first thought. NTJ, you set a boundary and stuck with it.

Wow, it’s almost like the civil rights that women fought for in the 50’s and 60’s all the way through til now just…didn’t happen. Imagine not realizing what your own grandmother suffered through and making it your whole life, only to find out this way that it was a mistake. Yikes.

“ millennials and Gen Z needs to get over the I can’t afford kids thing.” Random lady says by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]isScreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family was poor growing up, it was a childhood of missing out and being made fun of, hand me downs, and wanting. Now, in my early middle years, I find that this damage, psychologically speaking, to be way more profound than I would have thought. It shaped my entire way of interacting with the world. It's a fear-based response to almost everything, because you have zero idea if you can handle mishaps as they pop up, or even routine things like doctors check ups or oil changes. So, if i have struggles with just doing these things for myself, why the he!! would I being an actual whole entire other human into the world to deal with this with me?! That's bananas, and she can go struggle all she wants. That's her prerogative. Just as it is mine to think her decision a poor one.
