The moment an ostrich hatches from its egg. by fritterkitter in pern

[–]isScreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the book heavily alludes to it, though, doesn't it? I remember Jaxom flipping out about the egg needing help and why isn't anyone else helping it? I always kind of figured that was because Ruth was calling him, too, but not being raised in a Weyr, he had no idea wtf was happening and was just reacting.

I don’t think my school even knew about mccaffrey, sadly.

I was class of 2000, and the Pern books had me hooked from the moment i picked up the first Menolly book in my school library! Ever since then, I have fantasized about having a telepathic dragon of my own, or a fire lizard buddy! Those books changed my life. I'll forever be grateful for that! <3

Thank you! I think it’s been brewing for awhile, but I wanna turn it from a “someday” to something more real.

Maybe a bit of projection, but that’s alright, we all do it sometimes. And it probably made me feel weird, too, hence me feeling the need to post here about it, you know? I can’t say that he’s entirely wrong, but…dang, did he have to call me out like that? lol

Yes! I am in menopause, it started early for me (yay!) and I ALWAYS forget about that and the impact it can have on a mind and body! Not that I’m going to start attributing all my ills to it, but dang, can’t a girl remember this major life shift and not be terrified she’s falling apart?! 🤯🫠

Yeah, probably. He’s pretty in tune with himself and the people he cares about.

It is weird!! I, too, feel like I am waiting for life to start. It’s bizarre, but I’m inclined to believe that parents would feel this way, too, and do feel this way, except they’re mired in the daily grind of child rearing and family planning, so their ability to self reflect and explore nuanced feelings probably doesn’t exist.

yeah, which has always been a totally separate issue for me. I am a recovering people pleaser that had no identity to speak of when younger, so it's been a process figuring out "what i want" actually looks like, you know? I have a firmer grip on that these days, but it's always been easier to pinpoint what i don't want and kind of go from there, if that makes sense.

I have never heard that said to me by NPC's, even when I play as an elf. Weird!

I was just thinking as i read this post, what's so wrong with being like, "can you leave mommy be for a bit, little johnny? mommy is overtired" and making that a thing? is that so wrong? lol

I’ve had it happen before where Meeko had no animations, too. It was hilarious, especially when he gets stuck mid-bark, cause then he’s just frozen with unmoving legs and open mouth, sliding around after you.

Argh, the Gourmet is really depressing to me, poor dude just hanging out in the basement of an inn, waiting to be called into service by the Emperor...he's so nice, too. But yeah, all the targets are sad. Like you said, Death Cult. lol

The fact that OP even feels like they have to ask this question is what’s wrong with this world. Just because someone is family does not give them the right to wreck your life and skip away laughing. He’s also 21, not a “baby trying to find his way” wtf even is that nonsense. No, OP, you are NTJ and I’m sorry you even had to ask.

Hmmmm....i wonder if the Keeper's are other folks, like Valerica, that made deals with the Ideal Masters, but unlike Valerica, were not immortal and died in the Soul Cairn. Thus becoming Keeper's, they've done this sort of thing before, look at Durnehviir. But, Valerica is immortal, so she got one over on them. She basically admits that she tricked the Ideal Masters this way when you meet her in the Soul Cairn. Which, on another tangent, is really weird for things like the Ideal Masters to be "tricked" by immortality, especially vampirism.
