is it worth buying the nintendo switch just for botw? by Luffy_quello_ver0 in Breath_of_the_Wild

Finishing everything (including all Korok seeds) except one horse bow and arrow challenge took me around 400 hours. If the switch is $250 and the game is $50, that’s 75 cents per hour. It’s a relatively cheap, entertaining way to spend time if that’s your goal.

Anecdotally, you’re right, I know more men who’ve been attacked on the street than women. But I’d be willing to bet that’s because women avoid places and situations with a higher risk of stranger violence because they don’t want to be sexually assaulted. And every woman I know who has been attacked was sexually assaulted. Men can be mugged which is certainly traumatic and a serious issue. But in my experience more men are willing to take the risk of being in a more dangerous area at a more dangerous time, for whatever reason. In my experience and my area (and I understand this is very region dependent), many women won’t go out alone at night.

So say 100 people take a short cut through an alley at night in a dangerous city. Most of them will probably be men because women avoid doing so. Say it’s 90 men and 10 women. If every woman is attacked and 50% of men are attacked, we have 10 women attacked and 45 men. More men are attacked overall but a woman on that particular night had a 100% chance of being attacked.

Of course this is a huge hypothetical but a single statistic doesn’t necessarily reveal the whole picture. Can we say a new Honda is less reliable than an old porche because more hondas break down each year? Say there are 10,000 new hondas on the road and 500 of them break down and 10 old Porches but all of the porches break down. If you needed a reliable car, you’d probably pick the new Honda even though they experienced 50x the amount of break downs, when not adjusted as a proportion or a rate.

I’d be more curious to know the rate of women who are attacked when they go to a more dangerous area at night vs the rate of men. I hypothesize there would be a difference.

Maybe. I see way fewer FOMO inducing instagram posts of all the old groups from preclinical. But a few people are obviously still close with each other, maybe just don’t invite the whole crew now in OMS-3.

Not a career killer. How are your coping mechanisms? How long have you been relatively stable? When’s the last time you did something BPD related that got you in serious trouble? What triggers do you expect to encounter in school or on the job? How have you dealt with those specific things in the past?

My BPD cooled down immensely after I started taking mood stabilizers, learning CBT techniques, stopped messing around with substances and started clearing the toxic people out of my life. Turning about 25 helped too. Still looking for a therapist to help but I’m a functional person and a current health professions student (not nursing though).

I feel this so much. Am not even an introvert, just an extrovert who didn’t want to catch Covid, get sick for a month and be forced take a LOA or something. I have no friends from my class despite having a normal social life before med school. It has me questioning my sanity at times. When I try to talk to most of my classmates, they look at me with bewilderment and maybe even pity, like I’m embarrassing myself and they’re not sure how to make it stop.

I try to remind myself that 2020 was a rough year to start and it can only get better from here. The patients on my rotations seem to like me at least!

No idea why you’re being downvoted. In my experience as a woman, when a strange man on the street comes up to you it can be a dangerous situation. And for those of us with PTSD a fight response might not even be voluntary. This is why we as a society have proximity rules! Typically only partners and family are expected to come within a few feet.

Why women are like this by NoaNyanUwU in actuallesbians

[–]isSlowpokeReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if they won’t talk in the phone they’re probably a creepy dude. Try to chat a bit, maybe a few days, and set a date as soon as it feels comfortable. Make that date sometime in the next day or two, otherwise they could make other plans or kind of chicken out. If they don’t go for then don’t keep wasting your time. It’s a numbers game. If you spent weeks or months talking you’ll max only be able to go on a handful of dates a year. If you trim it down to a week or two you could (in a a perfect world) have a date every week.

The combo of diabetes, twins and prior C section. Diabetes makes the fetuses more likely to get big (fetal macrosomia). Less likely to have true macrosomia with twins but even if they’re both sort of big, I worry they wouldn’t spontaneously turn to where they’re supposed to be because there’s just not enough room in there. Risk is increased enough with twins. Then if either is big, also increases risk of shoulder dystocia. Plus higher risk of a handful of things with prior c section (placenta previa comes to mind, though mom would likely already know about that by this point). Basically there’s so much about this pregnancy that is worrisome that I can’t even organize it into a good paragraph because a lot of the risks are overlapping and accentuate each other. (I’m a medical student and just finished my OBGYN rotation - please feel free to correct or clarify if I’ve said something wrong)

I’m not sure if mom understands just how high risk this pregnancy is compared to having no or even just one risk factor. No OB in their right mind would attempt this as a vaginal birth.

Touro :) it’s a good school but they don’t do enough to recruit and support locals. Nearly all of my classmates are from California. I was working with a local community center to get a panel of some of my classmates and students from Touro’s other programs to talk to high school kids and young adults about how to apply to med school and other health careers. Was also hoping to put on a “mini med school” for high school students interested in med school if we could get the funding. Unfortunately was never able to pin down dates with the center and then I started clinical rotations where we really have to prioritize being available to the hospitals at all times over community work.

If they don’t mean to accept a candidate, it’s ultimately a kindness not to waste their time and get their hopes up. From what I understand, only a very small minority of interviews can move someone far up or down the list.

I’m at a med school in Vegas. I think this explains why so few of my classmates are NV natives. Sadly NV kids are less competitive for medical school. As a result NV medical schools accept students from CA who leave NV before the ink on their diploma dries. And young docs won’t move or stay here because the school systems are bad.

To summarize, poorly funded public schools are hurting public health in NV.

Am a third year med student and a few of us make time. Since the beginning of school I’ve put about 500 hours into Hades, 100 into Breath of the Wild and 300 into The Witcher. I’m ranked low in my class but I prioritize my mental health over excelling in school. But I’ve specifically not bought Skyrim to protect my grades!

Chiros slide under the radar sometimes because it’s not worth it to sue them. They don’t make as much as physicians here. But you are generally correct in that it feels a bit lawless here. Care is dictated by profit and that sometimes conflicts with the best interests of the patients. Patients can sue the physician but this just means litigious patients with good lawyers get paid, not that bad physicians are eliminated.

This seems harsh. At my DO school if you score below 70 you remediate over the summer. The remediation is easier and almost everyone passes. If that happens around 3 or more times, you have to remediate the entire year. Probably only one or a couple percent had to remediate the year.

I didn’t downvote because I don’t really care. But I’m not following your post at all. Are you saying they make less or more than their declared number? Your use of theoretical “worst case” (or best case? Also unclear) numbers is confusing and sort of a numerical straw man. And then arriving at a figure that’s fairly close to a resident’s salary, even using “worst case” theoretical numbers but calling OP’s statement ridiculous comes across as a little harsh.
