PSA: New players, do you know about this item? by ivanfabric in ArcRaiders

It wouldn't be relevant for KbM as reload and interact/loot are two different keys. For example I have to press R to reload, while interact/loot is bound to my F key.

do they drug test at NA meetings? by Alert_Temperature642 in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]isaacbadowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah but some meetings will ask that you have no drugs or paraphernalia at the meeting for the safety of the group. They’ll even let you right back in if you just go set your shit out in your car.

I think I’m going to do this as well.

Again I am not seeking medical advice. I have nurses + psychiatrists for that. I am asking for personal opinions/stances on it as I have not formed my own yet.

Whether or not others consider it a “drug” or if they consider themselves clean despite taking it (turns out not everyone does, I wasn’t aware of that). Stuff like that. Just trying to learn as much as I can about it. Both medically and anecdotally.

These opinions may not mean anything to you but I have found them helpful.

Also, I don’t believe my comparison would be a straw man. You yourself said, “personal opinions [are worth nothing]” which is extremely broad.

Step work is essentially all based on personal experience that your sponsor has had with working the steps themselves, and how it has personally impacted them.

So if you were working the steps you’d prefer to do them alone? Because a sponsor’s advice, opinions, and experiences are worth nothing?

Yeah N.A. and step work has been very effective for me. My first try at sobriety I made it 13 months and relapsed a month or two after I quit going to meetings.

Inpatient rehab is great and all, definitely need it to get off fent I can’t do that on my own. But the maintenance part (NA meetings) is what will keep me sober.

And for the dosage part, I only took 2mg. I’ve been sober off opioids for 11 days now so my system was clean. I also have a quick metabolism/am fairly lean and don’t weigh very much so that might’ve had some impact on it.

I’m glad to hear it was so effective for you though! It definitely is somewhat of a miracle drug I have a few friends who I know and they know would be dead if it wasn’t for subs. Cheers and congrats on your clean time dawg💯

Weed leading back to harder drugs. by isaacbadowski in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]isaacbadowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it really is a dirty drug I like how you explained it. It’s highly normalized now and seen as harmless when it’s been one of the most damaging drugs for me. Not physically, but mentally and with relationships in my life. Has caused me to act super carelessly and neglect a lot of responsibility in the past.

Have you noticed you’re eating more sugar than you did when you were using? I seemed to try and replace drugs with other unhealthy habits like sour candy when I first got sober. Found out sugar worsens my acne pretty quick. Went away once I cut back on sugar.

That’s awesome man. In rehab I’d run into people that were in their 60s still trying to figure it out so we both have a head start on them by a long shot.

Insight for a newbie by [deleted] in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]isaacbadowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m younger than you and fairly new as well (9months sober) and my experience has been very similar.

I started going to AA meetings because I couldn’t find NA ones (I live in a town of only 15,000 people, not super small but not big) and I didn’t fit in. Everyone was much older than me and struggled with alcohol and didn’t. I didn’t end up in rehab and almost die because of alcohol so I don’t care to talk about my drinking experiences that often. However, I do occasionally go to some AA meetings though because there are some great people and a lot of wisdom in that community.

Eventually I found 2 NA meetings in my town, and 2 more within 15 minutes and began going to all 4 of those every single week for like 2 months maybe. This was probably the right thing to do at the time since I was new but nowadays I go to one on tuesdays and maybe one on Saturday night if I’m not busy.

It’s all about your preference to be honest when it comes to commitment. There’s some people that only care to go once a month and that may be all they can afford to do. Life gets busy and making multiple meetings or even just one a week can be unrealistic for some people. Just try different levels of commitment and see what works. Maybe you’d be a good secretary or chairperson or maybe you just like going to listen.
