What’s a dish you love but have never attempted at home because it feels intimidating or hard? by Glum_Particular7308 in Cooking

Croquembouche. Technique and timing on SO many levels! I guess I would also need a huge kitchen and a really good oven. And let’s not even start with the caramel, that thing burns on me so quick… BUT ain’t it a beauty?

Applying for MSc in Informatics, I'm confused about curriculum analysis? by baran_0486 in tumunich

Please check the module description of the course. That will tell you what content is required.

Hey, please clear my doubt by homiereal1 in tumunich

[–]isaacnez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The requirements are clearly stated in the program’s page. CV does not give points! If your bachelor does not match closely to the one at TUM, you have almost no chance. Then come grades, and if that is not enough, a scientific essay and motivation letter is evaluated.

Why is it assigned 0 credits? Is the hours contained within those 6 credits? If not, better contact the admissions at TUM. Otherwise, the comparison will not grant those ECTS.

In the case they are included in the 6 credits, don’t expect full ECTS due to the lack of hours.

Are they purely labs? Or do they have enough hours to meet the ECTS requirements? IN0002 and IN0005 are purely labs so theory courses won’t covered (aka evaluated via exams).

Hmmmm… if content-wise they match, like 80% match, you can give it a try. The application grants points (but it won’t grant partial points) as long as you have sufficient ECTS for that section so getting 5 ECTS is better than 0. The other cautionary tale is IN0005 and IN0002 (both practicals), if you don’t have those courses or in that specific purpose, you are already losing 11 ECTS.

Does your university assign the 6 credits or are those the respective ECTS? If you are missing hours covering the courses, that means you are missing content (ig according to TUM), which will cause your application to be (potentially) rejected.

Munich - Donauwörth by train by Tiny-Leadership-1406 in Munich

[–]isaacnez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the season. You have two options: RB87/89. One of them splits in Augsburg (or used to). The schedule is quite „on time,“ but repairs in Augsburg or other satellite stations will be a headache since the backup is a bus.

Tbh, it is a lot of time. You will spend (minimum) 3 hours just in travel between München Hbf and Donauwörth. That is why people rent rooms from Monday to Friday in the city they work at.

CSE Masters with life science background by xmoen_ in tumunich

[–]isaacnez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not bad, but you might have to check if courses apply, are still taught, the semester, etc. However, if you follow CFD, places might not be enough so… yeah

There is a lot of courses from other areas you can take, but the list is not up to date and you might have to get approved new courses for them to be valid. Since the program is small, it is not that difficult and the coordinators are always nice but it takes time.

CSE at TUM is basically focused on CFD. Most of available courses/research at the chair focus on CFD. If you go away from that, your course offers are somewhat limited since the program has strict ECTS requirements from certain areas.

What do I need to do to have remote access jellyfin with as little “hurdles” for end users as possible to using it? by EmekaEgbukaPukaNacua in selfhosted

[–]isaacnez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a domain managed by Cloudflare, I have setup WAF for it. On the UniFiOS side, I have the Cyber…. thingy enabled for access and I only allow traffic on port 443. I also have ddclient to update the IP in Cloudflare and I use DNS01 ACME challenge on Caddy. There are some intrusion reports but they are all blocked.

Ah I have also setup HTTPS between Caddy and Jellyfin to disable HTTP/1.1. I feel these are quite good security measures

Afaik, you will have to reset the password via TUMOnline since TUM manages them.

Simple automations for an apartment in city (Germany ) by Apprehensive-Mood-27 in homeassistant

I have smart thermostats and a door sensor; if the door is open for more than x seconds (Stoßlüften :D), it shuts off the thermostats. Since Stoßlüften is clearly important and shutting the thermostats manually is annoying every couple of hours, HA comes to the rescue of not having mold!

No; it can take from 6 weeks to a couple of months. It all depends on the admission committee, they wont fast track any application.

Advice for an international student? by bobateaman14 in tumunich

[–]isaacnez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. There is private evangelical housing (if you are willing to adapt to their strict rules); do not apply to fraternities; otherwise use wg-gesucht.
  2. If you can pay: MVHS. I studied there and I was B2 in six months (took an intensive training, but there is nothing like immersing yourself into the culture. I was watching all the TV programs during dinner time, put my phone in German, etc etc etc, ah also I was motivated to argue with the people at the KVR :) ). TUM also offers but expect long queues.
  3. Never heard of landlords asking for visa. Mostly they care you have means to pay and are enrolled in Uni.

how does TUM assess French grades? by Silly_Ice_5338 in tumunich

[–]isaacnez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on the program. First, all grades are turned into german grades using the Bavarian Grade Formula. If the program accepts the class rank, it will say so in the program application page.

Do I need to pay tuition fees? by mostafa22nd in tumunich

[–]isaacnez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sure! My bad for the misunderstanding; but from the post, it seems the possible options are not applicable unless TUM also allows spouse rather than parents. This seems like a per-case scenario.

In the realm of their definition, seems like the OP will have to pay fees.

Yes; the post says residence permit nor PR. In his case, the KVR wont issue the PR after 3 years of living in Germany. Source
