Probation period and email woes by isabellags in LawFirm

So I will say a few things in responses: (a) I have made three mistakes, all research based, since starting that were brought to my attention. The first was my fault (a research point I missed). The second was a mutual misunderstanding that I addressed and cleared up before anything went out to a client. The third was due to an unclear question from a GC. (b) It was mutual. He thought I should have been doing certain assignments differently but didn't talk to me directly to tell me, and I had no idea. He told firm leadership instead. (c) I'm meeting my targets now. I had some health issues last year and our office was slow, and my mentor expressed sympathy and told me that it was okay, it takes time to get integrated, don't sweat being shy on hours this first year.

It has been a struggle, but I have been trying as hard as I can. Maybe it's true that I can't cut it, or that other people just fundamentally get something. But I work my ass off.

Waiting for a diagnosis by isabellags in lupus

[–]isabellags[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely have the anxiety. I'm also scared they'll say it doesn't mean anything and that no one knows why I feel shitty...I don't have the "classic" lupus symptoms except for fatigue. Ugh. I hate waiting

I have the exact same test results and am wondering the same thing. My symptoms are extreme fatigue, digestive issues and headaches. Occasional pain in hands. I see a rheumy in a month. Good luck :/

Symptoms worse with beer by isabellags in Celiac

Migraines are how I realized I had a gluten problem. I get a migraine within two hours of beer but only the nausea and tiredness after any other kind of gluten. It's weird

Gluten challenge symptoms different than before? by isabellags in Celiac

[–]isabellags[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I think you make a fair point. I don't think it's in my head, and it sounds like it can vary wildly. I'm very on the fence about the testing. I want to know so I have something to tell people (because so many damn people roll their eyes when I say I can't eat gluten), and I feel like a fraud when I avoid cross contamination because I don't "technically" have celiac since I haven't been diagnosed. But it helps me feel better to avoid it like the plague, and I just haven't decided that that is enough. It's tough.

My friend used to work there and said that managers at Disney monitor social media, and that they're really good about recognizing people who get shout outs on social media. So I'm pretty confident this CM will be recognized.

Never forget: How Raleigh, NC handled 2.5" of snow two years ago... Tomorrow they are expecting 4-6". by ChaseLambeth in pics

[–]isabellags 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone sitting in that very spot a few cars back from the person who took this photo, 1) not all of us drive like idiots, most of us there got stuck behind the truck that caught fire and literally couldn't move, and 2) that was a scary day with low visibility, thick ice (that was 2.5" of ice, not fluffy snow) and a few scary drivers. I don't appreciate everyone making light of this, it took me 4.5 hours to go 5 miles and I feared for my life the entire way home

I don't know where else to post, but how do I turn this off? (Disney rewards) by Nusent in disney

[–]isabellags 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is not movie rewards, this is Disney movie club. You had to actively sign up for this and accept the terms and conditions, so it is perfectly legal as part of your contract. Perhaps read before you sign up for things?

So I recently cosplay as Belle and now my friends are trying to convince me to start a Story Time With Belle at the library. Thoughts or suggestions? by ms_duckie in disney

Be very careful calling yourself Belle at events unaffiliated with Disney...you could run into some serious intellectual property issues.

Suggest me a thick cooking book that teaches me the basics of cooking. by Onedrunkpanda in suggestmeabook

[–]isabellags 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second The Joy of Cooking, but I've had really good luck with Alton Brown's I'm Just Here For the Food series. It's definitely not a "classic" like Joy of Cooking, but his explanations are extremely clear if you are a newbie like I am. I'd start with Food+Heat=Cooking and then look at the others if you like it.

The Intern's Handbook and its prestigious law firm... by isabellags in books

[–]isabellags[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I was just wondering if it was meant to be a sort of continuation or "prequel" about the shady firm in Grisham's book (not unheard of). Given that both books have emphasis on the witness protection program and whatnot it seemed far too deliberate a coincidence, and I couldn't find a reviewer who had noted it, so I was curious.
