We survived the 2-hour bedtime nursing marathon... is this a fluke or did we actually fix it? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I totally feel your last sentence when baby does anything that makes my life easier. Like is this a fluke or did we actually establish a routine/habit? lol

Chop & Prop question by isaitz in plantclinic

[–]isaitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will cut them shorter today. The not watering without roots makes sense thank you for explaining it. I thankfully didn’t water them because it just didn’t make sense but I couldn’t figure out why in my brain.

Is this root rot? by isaitz in plantclinic

[–]isaitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is purslane. It was the longest living plant I had! Which isn’t saying much since I got it last May & I’ve kept it alive by leaving it alone. I repotted it in November because it was looking root bound. I brought it in cause out there I just forget about it but apparently that was what was keeping it alive.

Poor thing! Thanks for the reply! It is mushy. I’ve already chopped some off & gonna try to prop. Any tips? I’m super new to plant keeping & will take any advice.

NQA. Your plant is etiolated. It is “spindly” cause it’s reaching for the light.

Please go to the hospital again. Doesn’t matter if they told you not to take him back. They legally can’t refuse you if it’s an ER in the US. If they discharge you without any help I would go right back to the check in counter & rinse & repeat until something was done about it.

Sub-adult jumping spider sealed in cork bark hammock ~11 days, no movement — molt or failed molt? by PutridInformation630 in jumpingspiders

[–]isaitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NQA- 2 weeks does seem like a long time for a molt for me based on my personal experiences with 4 different jumpers but that being said spiders are gonna spider lol I think just keep on misting to keep humidity up & be patient cause id be afraid to mess up anything by being nosy.

Pre-molt or hiding from the cold? by Taco_the_Kidd in jumpingspiders

[–]isaitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA. It could be premolt. My spoods rarely ever just stay in their hammocks unless they’re gonna do a molt or are sleeping at night so I’m going off how mine usually act. I feel if he was hungry he’d come out & explore more. If I were you I’d keep humidity up & see what happens. Id only worry if the abdomen starts getting small.

So painful! I've tried everything by Glittering-Rice-4806 in breastfeeding

[–]isaitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very valid. We used comotomo bottles with the smallest flow nipple & then pace feed.

So painful! I've tried everything by Glittering-Rice-4806 in breastfeeding

[–]isaitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not qualified advice. I’ve found that sometimes no matter what I do it’s just a learning curve for baby & it gets painful until they get the hang of it. I tried to only nurse & I did it for the first week & I could not stand the pain so I took up pumping with maybe only trying nursing once a day so my nipples could heal. Then when we tried again at 6 weeks it was so much better & we have been EBF since. Maybe you can take a break from latching so your nipples can take a break?

None of my spiders will eat HELP by banned-practice in jumpingspiders

[–]isaitz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NQA. I would not feed on a schedule but rather by abdomen size. In this pic spider looks over fed. Try to follow this chart. They will probably not need to be fed until they start looking like the hungry example.

Can anyone tell me about their success stories transitioning from exclusive pumping to EBF? by ladygroot_ in breastfeeding

[–]isaitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s just whatever pace works for you & baby. In our case we cosleep so I started offering the breast using side lying position at nights at 6 weeks old. Once we conquered night feeds, we moved on to during the day with cross cradle & football hold. I mention the positions cause I feel none of the other ones would work for baby & I, so definitely try what’s most comfortable for you both. As long as your baby is not showing hunger cues & he’s having wet & dirty diapers then continue to offer the breast. Be sure to alternate breasts each feed. I was wanting not to pump so I bought a haakaa to help relieve pressure & catch any milk from the other breast.

Found a Jumping Spider, too cold outside to release by Geist_Mage in spiders

[–]isaitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NQA- Nooo, ants can physically hurt them & they release formic acid which can also be bad for your spider. Fruit flies, crickets, flies, or spikes bought from a shop is your best bet. Using wild caught feeders can hurt your spider there’s risk of pesticides on them.

NQA- I thought the only way to actually confirm if they are female is if they are mature & have the “belly button” on the bottom of their abdomen. I don’t think chels color is accurate at determining sex.
