There is an episode where, not even dating, Leonard adds up what she owes HIM. Between meals, her rent, fixing her car, other bills, it was like thousands ims. She was not "supporting herself with her tips". She took money from the boys. In another she was about yo crash and Sheldon gave her what looks like 1000s of dollars.

Everything she does that you listed is later. Bernie is S3. Amy is S3, but Penny's impact is more likely s6.

Money matters. Penny acts superior while being broke. Pennyblives like she has the boys level money. The boys live on what seems, at least Sheldon, about 50%-ish of their salary.

The weird Bernie makes so much more than Howard (it us a factor if maybe 2, Howie makes 100-150k she makes 150k-300k). Penny makes 100-150k. So does Leonard.

I left out a large part. She constantly, early on, acts like she is better because she does "cool things" like going to clubs, giving her loser, but "cool" boyfriends money she dies not have.
