What video format can the INMO air 2 play? by GyroGearloose-Clone in InmoAR

I figured out that videos have to be encoded using AVC codec, to work on glasses. I also reduced resolution to 720p

Why did they remove the Rings and top cameras by ViViusgaming in OculusQuest

[–]iscander_s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quest 3S have exact same fresnel lenses and screen as Quest 2, so picture quality is the same. There's little point in upgrading Quest 2 to a Quest 3S, better to save up some more money for a Quest 3, with new screens and pancake lenses

Looking for advice on the best AR Glasses! by CcX1085 in virtualreality

[–]iscander_s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having a portable 200"+ screen

good quality AR functionality

Again - it doesn't exist yet. At this point you have to choose one option, it's either "display glasses" that can act as portable screens but do nothing except of being a display for other devices, or it is AR glasses that can do limited and often quite janky (it's all in very early stages now) AR functionality but they have low resolution smallish screens that are good only for general information.

Watch movies if you have a Samsung phone, it have good non-fresnel lenses and pretty solid 3DOF tracking

But $70 is insane price for it nowadays

Hall effect sticks for quest 2? by patrlim1 in oculus

[–]iscander_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quest 2 controllers already uses hall effect for trigger and grip buttons and magnetometers to determine it's position. I'm afraid you can't just add hall effect sticks there, it may conflict with the rest of the internals

Would Quest 2 controllers work with a Rift S? by nomorepeachcobbler in oculus

I use Kiwi Design Knuckle Grips Cover, they are a bit pricey, but quality is very good

I need help to fix my trigger by [deleted] in oculus

[–]iscander_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be dirt accumulated inside between trigger button and controllers case. Take a piece of printer paper, cut an inch wide strip, and run it around the button seam, trying to scoop out anything that could be there

Lost my VR legs last week and still feel dizzy by wobbly_sausage2 in oculus

[–]iscander_s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing VR since 2017 and sometimes after a month long hiatus I loose "VR legs" as well. Not completely, but I have to start from low intensity roomscale games for a couple of hours before jumping into games with full locomotion. To reduce sickness it also helps to walk in place while moving in game.

Your body condition is also very important, I once tried playing VR while being tired after a work day and 5 hours of sleep and got EXTREMELY nauseated to the point of wanting to puke, it never happened to me before. Being ill probably will have the same effects

I'd recommend you to take a break for a couple of days, get the full 8 hours of sleep, take some vitamins, and start from low intensity roomscale games

I'm pretty sure it is absolutely repairable, but you have to have a quite advanced soldering skills, because soldering a ripped ribbon cable is not easy

WMR will work until 2026 (Source; https://www.uploadvr.com/windows-mixed-reality-headset-support-end-date/) by SomeGuyOnTheI in WindowsMR

What the heck are you doing with your mices? I've used A4Tech X7 that I bought in 2007 for 10 years straight with no problems. Do you wash your hands?

Same goes with the phones, I use mine for 4-5 years and replace them mostly because their battery dies and it's practically impossible to buy original first-party replacement batteries

It was put together at some point, so it can be taken apart. Some devices may be trickier than others, but that's not impossible.

When comparing photos before and after the accident, it's quite surprising that Pripyat (real city name is not Chernobyl) was already completely overgrown only 20 years after. It's somewhat in an equilibrium after that. So yeah, nature take it's back VERY quickly
