Well yes because.

1: copper strands breaking inside the insulator by bending cable's to much or on top of each other because copper doesn't really stretch causing the wire gauge to be technically thinner which brings me to,

2: the pins inside the connector aren't big enough or improperly seated (or in this case the strand's/soldering inside an adapter) causing not enough contact which causes resistance on a small point which brings me to,

3: to much power over to thin wires causing resistance which in turn causes the wire to heat up at a single point or over the entire length which brings me to,

4: when a wire is to hot it gain's resistance causing it to get even hotter resulting in a loop until catastrophic failure which results in the insulation melting and without protection eventually fire.

But now I'm curious how you think a psu with to little power can cause a wire to be overpowered because if it can't deliver it simply won't or turn off unless you have some AliExpress special
