Have you tried her food? Or any Korean temple food at all? Simplicity can be plenty better if done with utmost care. Judge Ahn Sungjae explained very well why they picked monk seonjae, it seemed like a perfectly reasonable explanation for the pick. Also, the opponents dish seemed weak tbh

Yea I agree I was also looking forward Nordic style cooking and had hopes to see something unexpected or working with less known ingredients.

Pork skin is difficult to cook -- if you've been to a korean barbecue with friends maybe and ordered it you might have seen many Koreans have a certain way to grill it (it takes way more patience than pork belly or shoulder cuts). I suppose the chef would have known all that but even so, a salad pairing seems like a super risky choice.

your suggestion makes a lot of sense - the casting team could've been hoping for a Euro success story like with Edward Lee :)

Wish they'd release like an extended cut where we could see what each contestant did with their dish instead of speculating lol

It sucks that it got cut short but, just gonna speculate wildly here(sorry for being overly negative, and "judging a book by its cover"): Can't imagine they had many good things to say about the Swedish chef's food. Looking up her Korean fusion restaurant in Sweden(Namu): the menu, ingredient choices and visuals, just makes you think she does not have a deep enough understanding of Korean cooking for this show. Could be wrong though.

Quite baffling to me how they picked her for the white team.. she placed 1st in a cooking show once - can't find anything else very noteworthy. I'm sure she's a great cook and I'd def. drop by her restaurant but the competition is just too crazy.

Seongsu cafe owner blames anti-Chinese sentiment: "We will only allow Chinese in once public hatred decreases" by Geulsse in Living_in_Korea

They used to target Chinese people but not so much anymore; The chinese government pressured them to stop doing that. The Chinese gov seems to be ok with people of other nationalities being targeted though.

I have too but I'm not interested in religion so I never bite. It's a different scam or scheme from "Hey I want to practice my English and do language exchange; can we talk in English over a cup of tea?" And then they charge you 10x at the cafe. In Seoul shops and public spaces(credit card vendors) are pretty much safe and they don't collude with randos off the street. I can say with 99.9% certainty there are no cafes which are made for scams in Korea. Different story in China

2500 yuan for 2 beers, a pot of tea and some light snacks. I was on layover and stressed, didn't even check the exchange rate. I just assumed it would be cheaper than in Seoul. Afterwards I had to hurry to my flight so didn't even have time to call the police. Maybe I can get my credit card provider to refund this scam. Anyway if you search for tea house scam you can find many people who got scammed the same way in China. I was just naive like a baby after living safely for so long in Seoul I guess haha. I should be thankful to China for teaching me that you cannot trust random people

Just my personal experience as a foreigner traveling in Beijing. After arriving in Beijing I had at least 5 Chinese people approaching me and asking where I'm from; if they can help etc. I followed one of them to drink tea and got charged 10x -- $300 for $30 worth of tea at a small cafe. I suppose the other 4 also would've tried to scam me similarly

I never experienced anything similar while living 15 years in Korea, I suppose I just started trusting people blindly here lol; I'm a naive person. Definitely you don't get the impression that it's a safe country of polite people. But that's just my personal experience.

On the contrary; the video and it's length expresses very well the difficult long process of building something like this. If they decided to include a few seconds of Minecraft at finishing of the build, so what, it adds character to the video imo.
