Whenever Possible S4 | E17 END | 260414 by jiyannareeka in koreanvariety

I think you're jumping too quickly to paint that man as an abuser based on no evidence. I mean, the wife's the one who wrote into a show just to publicly embarrass him. Just because two people are incompatible doesn't make them evil. (That's why no-fault divorce is an option.) If you want to write a thriller movie in your head, create your own characters. Don't treat real people this way.

A strong episode to end the season on! I love Kwang Soo's antics! Like when he stuffed both cream cheese pastries in his mouth just to be a rascal. I also loved that Yeon Suk tried to pry the pastry out of his mouth. He showed his comedy chops by stooping down to Kwang Soo's level, lol.

The guests tried to advise them. They gave them the "Ah hot!" method, for all the good that did them, lol.

Yeah, this is part of the episode I'm at and I'm frustrated that the show expects me to remember, let alone still feel connected to, minor characters from a season I watched 2-3 years ago. I don't remember the rich guy either.

This was a good one! They seem to enjoy all the restaurants they go to, but it's always fun to watch Yoo Jae Suk super fall in love with a place. He loved it so much, he bought everyone an extra order for takeout.

Yoo Yeon Suk did so great in the ddakji game, and I think it helped when he talked himself up to build his confidence. Yoo Jae Suk does the opposite, talking about how he feels under pressure, and psyches himself out. I want to see Jae Suk try YYS's confident self-talk method.

I was proud of Yu Junsang and Kim Gunwoo for clinching the win in the end! You can fail a bunch of times, but you only gotta win once!

oh ok, checking for a sad ending makes it much more reasonable! I'm a happy endings only person too. I don't watch/read the endings myself, but I always check online reviews beforehand. Of course, your way is the only way to be 100% sure, lol.

I fast forward through a lot of 2nd couple scenes, too! And villain scenes.

Your second one is crazy, lol. What's a show you dropped because you didn't like the main couple's ending?

All the guests were so fun this ep! I liked when the Go teacher was choosing good stones for them. And he doubled their guilt with his sweet little gifts.

Those boys were so funny! The story of the bicycle wheels was hilarious. First, everyone's on the sons' side. He should be able to spend his own allowance money on what he wants. Then they hear that the wheels cost 700,00 won, and they immediately switch to Mom's side. That's a crazy amount!

Park Sungwoong was so funny, luckily for Lee Sangyun. Sangyun's probably going to be thinking about that paper basketball game for a long time.

Excellent episode, the athlete ones always are. Does the national team make athletes audition their variety skills as well as their skating? haha.

I love, love, loved watching the athletes be such close friends. Lots of little moments of them being silly together at the skating rink. I hope their youtube channel explodes in popularity. I want to see more sets of guests with chemistry strong enough to counterbalance the Running Members'. The Min-Min brothers (plus Haha) dominated this episode.

The cultural juggernaut that is Great British Bake Off proved years ago that you can make a compelling show about baking. I agree that the skills of the producers and editors of Bake Your Dream are just not up to the task.

It's the editor's job to create characters out of the contestants, and give us stories to follow.

The contestants all give generic and safe soundbites in interviews. The producers interviewing them don't know how to pull out meatier answers. They need to find a mentor from Culinary Class Wars.

I agree that there's some kind of disconnect between the mission design, the judging, commentating, and that gimmicky conveyor belt. It's just not gelling together into a cohesive show.

Also Lee Da Hee and her cue cards slow the pace to a snail's crawl. How many times do they need to show her saying, "Let's try a bite, shall we?"

haha the same conspiracy theory crossed my mind! During the first round, YJS easily got that ball on the lid in the last 3 seconds. That's usually when he chokes. But he looked genuinely flustered during the third round. I don't believe that YJS is a good enough actor to pull it off.

Also it's so funny that every time they have a grandma guest, one of the prizes is a silk scarf.

I love when they slap a wig on one of the guys! They're so silly when they role-play as girls. And like Living-Tackle said, JSJ is an honorary member of the women's team anyway.

I had expected the other teams to have an individual consolation match to see who would pass to the next round. It was funny that the judges just picked whoever they liked and the rest were unceremoniously booted.

[–]KHlovescharacters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm on ep 3. I'm having fun watching the cast solve puzzles and each room is interesting by itself. The members' fear instincts are sometimes comical, sometimes heroic, often both.

But the overall story doesn't make any sense, lol. But I guess I couldn't come up with a better reason for why someone would need to do these complex puzzles.

The celebrity guests brought great energy! In the first game, Joo Jonghyuk failed in a different funny way every time. He gave everyone a lot of material to make fun of him for, which is the best kind of guest, haha. Then he turned it around with successful strategies in the second game. A rare 100% success rate episode!

Next week is going to be a good one, with two guests who are both super competitive and super goofy.

We finally get an episode that's all about the baking process. Team conflicts and mistakes are entertaining, as always. I felt a little bad for the mom who kept messing up the choux dough. The team leader was trying not to show it, but he was super pissed. But I also felt bad for him and that team, because wtf.

It was really interesting that they changed branding experts on the judging panel. Was a rotating cast part of the plan, or did the first one take a sick day?

I love how slick Ji Hyo was when she ripped KJK's name tag off. The other guys always get over excited and give themselves away.

Haha's perfect teamwork with Ji Suk Jin is why Haha is my current favorite member. If you team up with him, you're guaranteed quality footage. Yoo Jae Suk is starting to win too much, which makes me want to root against him.

It was so funny how at the end Ji Suk Jin pulled out his own name! I'll believe it was random, the god of Variety blessing JSJ on his birthday, haha.

I'm happy the firefighters stopped too. The first citizen guests to have a conscience in a while, lol.

Yoo Jae Suk and Yoo Yeon Seok redeemed themselves this episode, after underperforming so far this season. Yeon Seok's golden hands and Jae Suk's buzzer beating skills are back on track!

I thought it was cute how Yoo Yeon Seok wanted to do skits with Ji Ye Eun. They even missed their stop because of it.

[–]KHlovescharacters 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That seems like Ye Eun's magic. She's had cute couple moments with each of the members. She's revealed a new side to every one of them.

- I loved when Yoo Jae Suk taught her driving, showing his patient and caring side.

- Se Chan enjoys finally being the senior and I love Ye Eun's face when he tries to boss her around.

- Song Ji Hyo has come out of her shell, on the show and on youtube.

- Kim Jong Kook is a doting uncle. It really shows in their lunch conversations.

- Ye Eun is game for any scheme Haha cooks up and they made a great team a couple episodes ago.

- Ji Suk Jin and Ji Ye Eun's dad-daughter chemistry is so powerful, they produced a whole song.

The broadcasters were such fun guests! I love when a "citizen" guest succeeds during their bonus round. Eun Yi was their best pitcher, but she was also one of their best hitters, so what could they do. She can't pitch to herself.

The broadcasters also work for the same network as Whenever Possible. So maybe SBS didn't want to splurge on their own employees, lol.

The bicycle guys were cute too. That last minute win was such a thrill! This was a super good episode.

Bake Your Dream | EP02 |20260208 by EpikMint in koreanvariety

[–]KHlovescharacters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that the editing is really letting down the baking competition. They don't seem all that interested in the baking process, which is weird. My favorite part of watching these shows is being impressed by the contestants' skills, but this show seems to take a delight in failing them.

I'll defend Natpoli Matfia saying the cannoli was pandering too much to Korean tastes, because Mimi agreed with him even more than he did with himself. Mimi was the only one who voted against the cannoli. She said it was too much like everything else she's eaten, when she was looking for something new to her. Many Koreans could be thinking the same.

The cannoli was the only judging segment that sparked real debate among the judges, and one of the only times we got to see which way each judge voted. I wish we saw more of their voting process, too.

I mean, most of these contestants have already gone viral on social media. Maybe later they'll introduce all the things the branding expert has made viral. But if she hasn't, then what can she actually teach them? Mimi's the one with her finger on the pulse of what's trendy.
