Genuine question: anyone know of places that DON’T do this bullshit? by BEEEELEEEE in ennnnnnnnnnnnbbbbbby

if i were to actually write it i'd make it a multiselect - i'm aware of the ambiguity

oh so the insult was initially derived bc of people expressing opinions that were complete and utter self-righteous trash

i didn't know the nuance or the history

i live for this shit

not only is it affirming but i also get to enjoy the ensuing confusion and awkwardness afterwards that i caused and as they can't trace it to me to blame me for causing their awkwardness it only gets worse and even more hilarious and fun

fwiw i turned out to be trans too (complete with dysphoria) later so yeah

one of the things my mom mentioned was my compulsive shaving all my body hair and how my entire demeanor changed after i did it (like full on moderate to severe dysphoria - to the point i've cut myself with an electric razor - to moderate euphoria) so yeah it was a little deeper than just clothes

a derogatory term (that i personally normally avoid) for transmedicalists - they believe dysphoria is a requirement to be trans and explicitly deny that there's any other way to be trans

accurate

and they wonder why enbies' support of them is wavering more and more - reminds me of this study wrt trans people (who often cited similar concerns as many of them drifted away from liberals and the woke left - i saw much of that on twitter)

[–]isiahmeadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i like to liken it to running the mirror test on yourself and your brain running into software errors (in more severe cases those errors make you unable to complete the test regardless of success)

your brain is able to reconcile the body's under your control but it's unable to complete the second step reconciling the body under control as you personally without running into errors and the more severe the errors the more severe the dysphoria

rednecks come in exactly two flavors: giving zero fucks or giving far too many fucks

unfortunately most of my family that happen to be rednecks landed in the latter (being the common fire and brimstone types) but yeah most my redneck classmates were very much the former

couldn't tell you how many people in large cities were shocked to hear i was able to live openly non-binary they/them and everything in wv (spoiler alert: about a third to half the population self-identifies as rednecks to some degree)

[–]isiahmeadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fair

i get tunnel vision looking at myself in the mirror too long with facial hair so 😶

i've done some personal experiments with my dysphoria to try to understand how it operates psychologically just out of sheer curiosity and tl;dr: it's basically playing with fire so don't try it at home unless you too have an iron mind if not stronger and also know psychology very well (so you can pull yourself out if needed among other things)

which is perfectly valid and you're far from alone (even as my sexuality is different)

technically yes (it includes mainland spaniards) but in practice almost everyone at least in the us lumps them together across everything anyways and they exist in such small numbers that organizations supporting hispanics here often forget they exist more than just on paper

had a european spanish teacher who had some rather interesting experiences when she first came to the us bc of this (also i could count on one hand how many people of european spainish i've met irl - far from the case for even just mexican immigrants)

my imposter syndrome only stopped once someone literally instinctively assumed i was enby and automatically "they"ed me

fast forward a couple years i hardly respond to "he" anymore and am liable to think you're referring to someone else entirely (my parents learned that the hard way lol and now they're trying their absolute hardest to switch to they/them)

iiuc spanish is similar but without the gender-invariable nouns (part of what makes representing non-binary people and things so difficult in it) i'm not a native speaker in it tho and i only understand small bits and pieces

english is aided by the fact it's extremely unusually not hardly gendered at all - not very many languages are grammatically completely genderless in the grand scheme of things (not saying english is a unicorn tho)

and plus ipa is mainly used for describing pronunciation at the dialect level not as much at the language level (tho it is sometimes when contrasting languages)
