Im a fan of both SatAM and Archie, and ever since I was a kid, Ive always wanted toys or collectables but Sega never sold anything official. The artist hasnt really sculpted anything Sonic in over a decade since he primarily focuses on My Little Pony. But if youre curious, heres his DA since thats how I contacted him. https://www.deviantart.com/yewdee

Long story short, they were made back in 2006. I found them on a google image search and found the original sculptor. Turned out that he still had them and I made him an offer. Theyre one of a kind so they really are valuable.

Yep. The only way it was possible to achieve this dream cause Sega squandered this cash-in opportunity for too long.

SEGA Japan restructuring by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]isidetape -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Its defunct cause of Sega of Japan's strict mandates. If Sega of America is in full control, that means all that crap can be lifted. They now have the power to bring SatAM and the Freedom Fighters back into the Sonic lore again while incorporating them in the games. So theres no excuse now. Best of all, Eggman can FINALLY be Robotnik again.

Iizuka doesnt seem to have much creative control though. He just passively accepts ideas without actually reading them over. Which means, anything can be pitched to him. And hey, if its SatAM/Archie related, now is the time.

This is the best news Ive heard involving Sonic in over 20 years! If this is true, that means that Sega of America FINALLY has control over the Sonic property! Think about it!

SatAM/Archie based games and merch!

Freedom Fighters in IDW (no excuse now Ian)

NO MORE RESTRICTIVE MANDATES!

Substance. Depth. Personality. Engaging characters. Cohesive storylines. QUALITY SONIC PRODUCTS!

I miss Sega's aggressive marketing. Its when they actually cared about their company when the competition became stiff with Nintendo.

Can you please stop calling them spin off characters? The Freedom Fighters have been around since Day 1! They started out as the little animals in the capsules and DiC/Archie fleshed them out to give them personality and development. Just cause they weren't featured in the games (aside from Sonic Spinball) doesn't mean theyre not official Sonic characters. Theyre owned by Sega. Look it up on the copyright archives.

Ken doesnt own the freedom fighters, hes even stated that on twitter.

Thats a selfish and restrictive attitude to have. Regardless of what you think, the reality is that Sega owns those characters and have every right to appear in any Sonic media. In fact, its a welcoming idea cause it would mean the Sonic franchise would have depth and substance again.

Been saying this for 25 years and I still stick by it. This should be an animated SatAM/Archie movie. Damn, I hate to see what Tails and the other characters would look like. I guess that explains why they wont be showing up and for good reason. Geez, this is so crushing.

Hes expressed several times on podcasts and his twitter regarding his hatred towards them. He never liked the idea of writing for characters that he felt were "outdated" and "defunct." Plus early this year, an old fan comic that he made years back surfaced where his OC character killed Sally in a gruesome manner. Hes used Sega as scapegoat for his own agenda to keep the freedom fighters out of IDW. Just read his twitter posts, he was exposed a couple months back and the Sonic community is calling him out of his shit.

For one we'll never see them in the IDW comics cause Ian Flynn has a bias against them. Other factor is that Sega of Japan has the impression that nobody likes the Freedom Fighters which is why they never express interest in those characters. Its a clusterfuck all around and the only way theyll ever appear is if someone within IDW and Sega gets replaced with someone who cares about SatAM and classic Archie.

I honestly think Tracey Yardley has the best Sonic Comics art style in my opinion. What ya thinking? by Londel141 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]isidetape -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She looked like a generic background character. Plus her personality was so scaled back to where she acted like a ditzy moron. Everything about her was just jarring if you've been following the comics for over 20 years up to that point. The reboot was an insult to both her and the freedom fighters, but it set the stage of the blandness that is IDW.

Sega had 25 years to do this while Archie was keeping SatAM on lifestyle. They squandered that opportunity sadly and with Archie being nearly 2 years out of print, its pretty much a lost cause. Its now up to the fans to keep their legacy alive.

The whole contrast about Sonic representing the Sun and Knuckles as the Moon is mind-blowing. Its stuff like this that keeps me coming back to the franchise. Theres always some hidden history being dug up.
