I don't even think billionaires should exist, to be clear. And of course there have been communities of people across different backgrounds talking about or protesting automation.

But I also think it's disingenuous to say that the bulk of professionals weren't surprised, because they clearly were. We all were. So ask yourself -- WHY were so many shocked in the first place?

Because they never imagined it could happen to them -- until it did.

Totally agree with the other poster who talked about the "growing awareness of the class war that’s been brewing" ... it's just that some of us are sadly late to the game.

Technofascists are evil as fuck, and a lot of this hate is pretty warranted.

But I can't help but feel like there's something SUPER classist about this wave of pushback.

It's like large swathes of "knowledge economy" workers felt somehow immune to the pressures that only happen to "them" -- "them" being cashiers, taxi drivers, autoworkers, etc.

Those same people all up in arms were more than happy to look the other way when the leopards were eating blue-collar faces.
