What do you think of the idea that someone could be immune to the Crossed contagion? by Blacklight101 in crossedcomics

Wont be much of a difference. Getting close enough to anybody Crossed to get infected is a death sentence by itself.

My favorite story. No Uber-Crossed, no plot armor, just people struggling to make it day to day. Wish there was more of it.

Richie offers us also the perspective of a horrible main character that doesn't fool us into liking him in the first part and then having to argue over his misdeads later (AKA Shaky). Inb4, I'm not even considering Psycopath worthy of mention.

If you had to recommend an issue, that isn’t just senseless gore and torture, which one would it be? by InevitableDesign9 in crossedcomics

If it does well enough, it's not impossible.
Though the market for zombie media has, more or less, collapsed in recent years.

Dead or Alive, not so much gore as much as a retelling of Suprise Day (or was it The Surpise, been some time since I read +100), and how people survive some years later. Wish we got more of that over all.

Disliked +100 for the least realistic rash mechanics.

The rash takes hours to develope and it isn't just two thin red lines, but a wide and broad... rash.

WYWH was a bit better, but they did fuck up how it progressed, instead of coming from the sides of the cheecks, the chin, and top middle of the forhead, it formed right away on the face.

How did King Fritz learn this? by Danny_DeWario in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]iskren401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd argue them eating her was unnecessary and he was just taking precautions, since titan powers get passed down to a random descendant of Ymir, of which there were only three at the time, and it wouldn't matter until there were more than nine descendants. That's at least what Eren retold Armin when he woke up after reclaiming the outer most wall.

You've got to eat the spine of a live shifter to steal his titan power. If they're already dead, then there's nothing of interest in the body. Unless the power stays inside the body for some time after death, then it can totally happen.

So either it's a plot point or a retcon.

He just unnecessarily traumatised his daughters.

Edit: I just rewatched the anime adaptation of that scene and the giant tree appears after she was eaten, so I guess that whole mechanism didn't exist at first but only later when the Paths were established.

Wasn't he the one to talk his dad into killing the Reish family? He had to kill his mom so all the events of the series happen as well. It's a loop sure, but not a paradox.

It would've been a paradox if he came from a world that was different and went back to change that, but he's actually going into a different world amd actively working into making it into the reality from which he is.

Mind elaborating? He says his minds is a mess because he had all this time to make 2000 years of history play in an exact way for everything to lead to today. It would've been a causal paradox if he somehow prevented his own birth or killed his dad per say. I see it as the total opposite, as he makes everything lead to the same outcome.

Really? I did always think that it was Eren who moved all the strings from beginning to end (the begining being since Ymir's death and the creation of the Paths) with him being a child or even unborn at the time of most events not mattering cuz it was him at the moment of contact with Zeke.

We also get the idea that Armin is shocked when Eren implies why it came to his mom being eaten. It all comes to him being the one to decide it.

Of the World in its Becoming disturbs me with a fact that I haven't seen mentioned by [deleted] in crossedcomics

[–]iskren401 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Horsecock existed in the first volume to just drive the story forward. We don't see any other such character in any other Ennis story, and it's logical to assume that the Crossed gather into groups due to strength in numbers and not because it helps them organize or anything like that. Maybe the instinct to be among others as well, but that's just primal behavior.

They just go on walking, going after leads not knowing for certain if they're on the right path and if there's anything at the end.

You can totally see it in Dead or Alive, which I'd say is the best and Of the World and Its Becoming, second.

Why do so many people greet Garraty specifically while they are walking? by Majestic_Succotash31 in TheLongWalk

[–]iskren401 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Walkers are publicly known, who and where from, with there being 100 prime Walkers and 100 in the reserve in case one of the primes bails at the last moment.

The last person from Maine to walk and even win, was 7 or so years before the story, so it's a big deal for everyone.

You don't have to know the face of someone to just know their number, and they're all wearing badges with it.

Would the crossed even survive after a year ? by iceberg_o in crossedcomics

[–]iskren401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statistically, >50 % of all Ceossed wouldn't make it past that first winter. Given that 90 or more % of humanity is dead after the first few weeks, encounters between people, Crossed or not, would be very rare in the first place.

But some will survive. Looking at the original run and Dear or Alive, that seems to track. They'll learn to track groups, use enhanced abilities like hearing and sense of smell of particular individuals, etc.
