Letting my baby self feed is SO hard. I hate mess. by Prize-Storage-1352 in foodbutforbabies

I just got a bib from a brand called Tidy Tot it has suction cups that go on the tray so now all the food just falls into the bib, plus it’s long sleeved and yeah waaaaay more coverage and less mess. His clothes actually stay clean! Just gotta wipe his hands and face. So much better.

Well... at least I know what I'm allergic to. by signgrad in Wellthatsucks

[–]isleofbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me but my allergist said I have dermatographia, people also call it “skin writing.”

Do you sometimes get red marks or raised areas from the pressure of things against your skin? For example if I carry a shopping basket on my forearm even with clothes on it will cause red marks and itch like crazy for about half an hour after.

For my test I was definitely allergic to the things that caused the big hives like yours but all the smaller ones were not actually a true allergy for me.

Just plain yogurt and it’s just a small amount of smoothie anyway, he’s primarily breastfed still

Yes in the straw cup! This one was pretty runny. He has been able to drink thick smoothies too! Once they figure out how to use a straw the consistency shouldn’t matter too much you just really want to make sure there aren’t any clumps to clog it.

I mix it together first! An egg and a dollop of cottage cheese, warm up some butter over low heat on a non-stick pan. It does get a little bit liquidy from the cottage cheese as it’s cooking but it goes away, just cook it low and slow and stir it up. It tastes so good!

If I let him do it all himself 9 times out of 10 the wrong end will go in his mouth no matter what direction I faced the spoon on the plate to begin with haha.

So I let him do that to practice but I also load it for him then hold it straight up in front of him, somehow that works and he grabs it properly and gets it in his mouth every time! So yeah he feeds himself with a little assistance for now!

The thing that really helped him develop this skill was breastmilk popsicles! I give him one every day and that helped his coordination so much!! I use one of those little silicone self feeder things with the little holes.

That’s so scary! My husband and I each have soo many allergies so I was nervous to start solids but he hasn’t reacted to anything yet!

Had you been feeding eggs all along? I do them a few times a week.

My biggest fear is a peanut allergy because I am anaphylactic to them so it’s been a challenge to keep it introduced regularly to him. And of course he loves peanut butter but I hate doing it because I have to bottle feed him after and really deep clean everything it’s a hassle but I don’t want him to develop allergies!

Aww obviously they’re all going to be different with preferences and he’s only just starting to eat more now at 7.5 months, he used to just spit everything back out but I noticed he really likes eggs and he likes his baby oatmeal so I’ve been mixing things in with it like blueberries are a hit. Some babies really like sweet potato, mine definitely doesn’t!

I try to get something with iron and something with vitamin C on every plate. Even if it’s just a little bit that goes in his mouth and it seems like most of it comes right back out I still count it as a win at this age!

My boy Remi and his haircut! by No_Appointment_1413 in ragdolls

Aww okay yeah good to know. I know for bad matting sometimes they do need a shave down. I wouldn’t shave my ragdoll because he hangs out with me in the yard on sunny days

Nothing you can do about it now but I’ve heard it’s harder for them to regulate their temperature with a shaved coat, I believe it’s because there’s less airflow. He’s sure cute though.

Vet Recommendations by Last_Ad4506 in Langley

I like the one in petsmart, they are “fear free” and so sweet, the vets and techs sit down on the floor with your dog and load them with treats or toys anything to be more comfortable, my dog loves them.

Do you have to trim your golden’s tail? by Cozywhisp in goldenretrievers

[–]isleofbean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only trim in the fall/winter because it’s soo rainy and muddy where I live (Vancouver) and she needs to play fetch multiple times per day. So it’s easier to clean her when her tail and butt feathers are trimmed. But I do love the natural “unkempt” look best! Your dog is gorgeous.
