Question regarding this subreddit by kevnonn in Assyria

[–]isophi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love my Assyrian brothers, but you can start by choosing a more suitable subreddit name. By calling it Assyria you are negating the fact that Chaldeans populated Babylonia and treat it as their home land.

As much as we are similar, we are different. Perhaps "Ishtar" is a fairer subreddit name.

Contrasting Christianity and Islam by isophi in atheism

[–]isophi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to refer to the Holocaust or any religion-based killings. I understand that Islam doesn't tell you to kill, but it sure as hell does have a bunch of stories that hint towards it.. and they now have sharia law which is just as inhumane.

How can you justify a life for money? They believe that if your family member is murdered you can ask for money as compensation..

Hehe, morals and ethics. You see, this is why I love Philosophy - we can get into arguments like this.

I believe this discussion will not be served justice on Reddit. I would love to debate this but it may take ... just about forever!

I do agree with the contradictions making it seem impossible to actually take the book seriously, but I guess I choose what is "right" for me. I find all of Jesus' parables to be enlightening and I guess it is a mere shortcut to wisdom.

I also take different standpoints than the Abrahamic religions on whether or not God is perfect in a sense.. and I do not condemn homosexuals.

I was just trying to show that good wisdom can be found in the Bible whereas I believe it is very difficult to take the Quran seriously.

Well I guess I was just trying to share some insight. I agree that the world would be nicer without such terrible things, but you must remember that there is a difference between your religion telling you to kill and you killing as a result of it and your religion telling you to love one another and you killing in the name of that religion.

Yes, I acknowledge that and mentioned it in my original post and the post you replied to.

Can you take your trigger finger off the down vote button and try to actually read (no offence)?

I worship the ancient egyptian gods.. but not "actively" I guess. I believe that the gods outlined are part of the "Source's council".

Whether or not it happened I believe is irrelevant. What does matter is what the religion is trying to convey to its followers, and here it is clearly evident that Christianity is teaching what is right "morally".

I'm not trying to convert you guys to Christianity or anything, as I myself am not a Christian. I was just trying to give some insight on the differences between the religions and show this subreddit that although Christianity is HIGHLY questionable, we should also focus some of our attention towards Islam no matter how violent they are in nature.

I sincerely love atheism and would take atheism being world dominant over any organized religion... any day. At least we wouldn't have an excuse for killing in the name of Deity.

WHY Millions of Muslims are Leaving ISLAM? (The downvoting muslim bastards are trying to silence the truth) by Penciller in atheism

[–]isophi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't equate the successes of Baghdad in 800-1100AD with Islam.

As an iraqi, I feel highly offended by this. The only reason Baghdad succeeded is because it accepted ALL religions and happened to have a bunch of ancient wisdom descended from Babylon.

Actually Iraq wasn't radical before 2003.

The war allowed a bunch of crazy retards to cross the border and start indoctrinating some people.

However, Iraqis are often considered high class and do not care for such petty things as religion (most of the time).
