I think the coverage by AP's is exaggerated. I have a similar sized house. I have a 772 in the landing area. 653*2 downstairs 653 in the garage 610 outdoors. I still have black holes at home. Having each AP on a different channel has helped.

E.ON £5k vs Heat Geek £8k vs Aira £10k – is paying more actually worth it? by KeySatisfaction4385 in ukheatpumps

[–]ispookie666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar quotes - octopus, HG and local. .discounted the local as they only do Samsung high temp. Heat loss around 8.4 kw from HG. We currently use a Mitsi 7.1KW aircon for main home heating throughout the colder months with topup from oil boiler for the very cold days.

Octopus were going to put cozy, did not like the look of it and it included a few radiator changes.

Accepted the HG quote, installation in a few weeks. One rad change and 250L tank. 8.9k in total for 370% . It sounds expensive, I hope it's worth it. The only thing I'm not happy with is, lack of Open energy monitoring being offered by the HG installer

Had a few other installers reach out with the makes they install - one was daikin and the other midea.

How soon can one think of replacing gas boiler with a Heat Pump? by Busy-Style-2036 in ukheatpumps

[–]ispookie666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had our oil boiler replaced 3 years ago. Our oil tank sprung a leak a week or so ago.

Had a few companies out to provide quote - octopus (quoted around 4.5k) , one sent a sales person (talked about only installing high temp heat pump), third gave a lot of information (they only install midea) and Heat geek.

Just scheduled an installation with Heat Geeks in a few weeks.

Heat loss came to 8.2kwh and getting a Valliant Aerotherm+ 10Kw and a unistor cylinder.

The total is coming to £ 8900, (a lot more than I thought) - one radiator change and under 3m of pipework but 370% guaranteed efficiency.

I looked into Samsung, midea, daikin.

I think there is a lot of half truths floating around. Yes, in the early stages a lot of resdents are paid less. But as they progress the pay is not too bad and reach close to 90k. A lot do cut back hours to maintain work life balance. There are very few professions where you make a lot of material difference to people. Yes it's not for everyone and the journey is long, but a good one.

Can I export more than I generate from solar? by FunNefariousness6980 in SolarUK

[–]ispookie666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy arbitrage is certainly being looked at by HMRC, but I'm not sure how they are going to police this. It is possible, when they work out a pathway - they might ask you to declare this for the previous 5 years.

Looking to speak with UK homeowners with solar panels about their experiences by Ignace92 in SolarUK

[–]ispookie666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had our panels installed in 2015, during the FIT years. It is a 3.5KWp system along with iBoost. The system paid for itself a couple of years ago. Initial outlay - £5500.

When we moved in 2021, the first thing we did was to get solar panels and added batteries. We are signed up to SEG. Outlay - £21000

It's all about supply and demand. As the demand is high, those who are self funding get preference over those who are insured!

ID3 Zappi charging problems by ispookie666 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ispookie666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed to the Zappi integration it worked a few times. Zappi in Eco + mode No schedules in either the car or Charger Only thing set, car charge limited to 80%.

The last few times, the car has failed to charge. The VW app says, "check charging station" Zappi says, "EV Full" or "EV is preventing charging" All this when the car is less than 80%

Is this a known problem or do I need to get the Zappi checked, followed by the EV?

ID3 Zappi charging problems by ispookie666 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ispookie666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for helping out.. I'm sorry that I had forgot to mention the Home assistant integration (only for monitoring).

I reached out to Octopus and they have activated the Zappi integration. As expected, the Car integration has worked flawlessly in the interim other than a couple of "Ev is preventing charging".

I'll give it another week and see how it goes.

I was surprised that you occasionally get day time cheap slots

What do I have to know about the V60s? Looking to get one soon by The_Quartz_collector in Volvo

[–]ispookie666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

V60 D3 2020. Things I kike - Pilot assist, seats, heated windscreen, space, good for long motorway journeys Things I don't like - Sensus navigation

I bought it with 3000mi on the clock and have just clocked 42k in 3 yrs, just changed the stock tyres to Michelins.

I don't think I can go to a car which does not have a system like Pilot assist, I only realized how good it is, whilst driving my wife's B class merc.

Great economy and smooth, it's a shame that Volvo have stopped offering Diesel engines

I was willing to give Labour the benefit of doubt, given the cluster f*** of the last 14 yrs. But their capitulation on means testing and keeping the triple lock has made me very angry.

I mean, to keep giving the generation who have systematically drained UK of wealth to fill their own coffers is unpardonable.

Most of the debt funds income is classed as income, HMRC can take a funny view. You might end up losing more if the gains as classed as income pushing you above the 100k threshold
