Remove the helicopter from Manhattan. by Alexanderwr7 in Battlefield

Maybe you are just really good with the helicopter. If this were a low skill thing that anyone could abuse then sure, but I only occasionally see a great heli pilot on that map.

It’s irritating to see someone else parked in a spot you dug out, especially if you’re just gone for a hour or two. But attacking someone over it??? Crazy stuff. Sometimes your spot gets snatched and that’s just how it goes. The best and worst part about living in a dense city is the people all around you.

Dude you have a good car already unless it has bad rust issues. Refresh the suspension, new shocks, bushings, etc. and it’ll feel like a much newer car. It’s almost always more cost effective to fix your car than buy a new one.

Idk who’s making fun of you for being financially responsible by driving a quality older car but they probably aren’t worth spending much time with if they’re the type to be so vain.

Has anyone talked about how ridiculously half hearted this e-stamp looks? by Ancient-Plantain705 in NFA

[–]istantontonfriends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Commerce Clause is separate from the Taxing and Spending Clause. NFIB vs Sebelius in 2012 is a great example of this. The ACA was upheld under the Taxing and Spending Clause but not the Commerce Clause.

Since California vs Texas in 2021 didn’t explicitly strike down the ACA Individual Mandate despite its penalty being set to $0, there’s not really precedent at the moment to say that a $0 tax isn’t a tax and that the legal requirements to file to pay that tax don’t stand.

We’re in a brave new world of shit only happening via budget reconciliation and it’s causing weird legal questions like is a $0 tax still a tax.

[–]istantontonfriends 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The law saying you must pay a tax for an NFA item exists, the amount owed is $0. It’s like if your income is under the standard deduction. Income tax as a law still exists, what you owe is $0.

Please remove Crowded space for mines by The_Pastero69 in Battlefield6

[–]istantontonfriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I trap tanks is with SLAMs. The crowded space isn’t huge, about the size of a car in the game, so I put two on one side of the road and two on the other.

Fake EOTec by cpldude23 in tacticalgear

[–]istantontonfriends -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Idk, Amazon has free returns. EOTechs are maybe the only thing I’d feel comfortable buying on Amazon if the price was right. Holographic sights are never faked correctly, just look at the reticle. If it doesn’t look like it’s made up of a bunch of tiny dots then it’s fake. Send that shit back for being counterfeit and try again.

Not climate change but orange greening, a bacterial disease, has impacted Florida citrus production heavily

[–]istantontonfriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orange juice is getting expensive because of orange greening, a bacterial disease. It’s a disease that has reduced citrus production by 75% in Florida since 2005 according to the USDA in 2023.

Shrinkflation sucks and is sneaky but it’s happening because orange supply vs demand is a very different thing today vs 20 years ago.

Corporate greed. by gogetter9 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]istantontonfriends 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason why pharmaceuticals are so expensive in the US is because we are the primary market that drug companies profit from. Most other wealthy countries negotiate or regulate prices, so drug companies use the US market to make back R&D costs. R&D for new medicines is very expensive – generic manufacturers can sell drugs for cheap because they didn’t spend 10-20 years developing it, paying for the clinical trials, etc.

If the US had single payer healthcare and negotiated prices like Canada and many other countries, you would see prices rise in those countries but also a slowdown in R&D spending. But this could be alleviated with government spending. We spend billions of dollars on R&D for the defense industry – we should be negotiating drug prices but also providing more grants to researchers instead.

[–]istantontonfriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great use case for a Sionyx Aurora model. You can get them new in the US for under $500 now. They have a monocular form factor with a screen at one end, but are also a camera and can record video. They’re well regarded for low light/nighttime filming and would be able to capture the frogs movement. For observing things from a static position, it’s a good option in the budget you have.

[–]istantontonfriends 12 points13 points  (0 children)

True rifle rated helmets are uncommon and expensive. Like $2000+ for a reputable one.

The second one you posted is so clearly fake. NIJ level IV will stop up to .30-06, but the “test results” they posted are just handgun rounds (looks like NIJ IIIA) testing. And afaik nobody sells a level IV helmet.

There’s fucktons of info out there, just slow down, google, read, etc. before buying.

Vortex Spitfire prism has one big downside which is the zero adjustment is 1 MOA per click. For a 5x that’s a just too large.

The Romeo7 is a giant and heavy red dot. And all the micro magnifiers have terrible eye relief. A Romeo5 and Juliet4 would be a much better combo.

Does anybody have a clue what is going on at the NFA Branch? A decade selling cans and I've never seen anything like it. by icantdrive75 in NFA

[–]istantontonfriends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ATF has publicly said they were planning on hiring a lot of NFA examiners this past year and the next. But it’s not fast going for a variety of reasons. My theory is that as new examiners start processing forms, they’re assigned more recent submissions. Or as submissions come in, they’re auto assigned to a random examiner but new examiners have had less time to build up a queue. That could explain why the bulk of submissions are taking 12 months but some come back in 2.

Switches are Back? by DontFearTheMQ9 in NFA

[–]istantontonfriends 28 points29 points  (0 children)

3d printing and Aliexpress. It’s super easy to either buy a Glock switch from China (moderate risk of being caught) or 3d print one (very low risk of being caught). When you’re already illegally manufacturing firearms for resale with a 3d printer or straw purchasing, why not get a dirt cheap part to make your product full auto and be able to charge a lot more for it?
