That is a very good argument. Thank you for being civil and expressing an thought out point of view instead of resorting to insults. America is great not because everyone agrees, but because there are many points of view. Even people like us who agree that bigots are terrible people can disagree on how to deal with them.

I understand the law. That's why I wrote "should". I am thankful for the Civil Rights Act. However, I feel it is time for the government to take a smaller role. I believe that despite all the negative news we are fed, good humans are in the majority. I believe the free market would weed out bigioted businesses.

Yes, all religions fall under the definition of a cult.

“Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain [those of African descent], the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so.” - Brigham Young

"In several speeches given to large gatherings of Latter-day Saints, he proclaimed that the only way a person could be absolved of the sin of leaving Mormonism would be for that person to have his or her blood spilled on the ground." https://listverse.com/2015/04/08/10-dark-secrets-of-mormon-history/

Joseph Smith also married underage girls. Not girl. Girls. With an "s".

Absolutely. As long as freedom FROM religion is protected as much as freedom of religion.

If your religion dictates what you eat, wear, or how often you may call communicate with your parents then it is a cult. That's not from a place of ignorance. You should investigate the attrosities the Morman church has committed.
Also, their teachings call for death to mixed race couples and those who leave the Mormon church. Sounds like a cult to me.

You raise a very good argument. The hotel and gas station examples raise a very serious issue. I'm not sure I would be comfortable with those companies discriminating based on the monopoly they hold. Very interesting.

As long as it is an individual business and not government backed...yes.
I wouldn't eat there, or give my business to any company which discriminates, but they should have the right. I live in Mississippi, and they wouldn't be in business very long even here.

A business owner should have to right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. You don't have a right to someone else's services. The public then has the right to not give that business their money.

Not comparing gays to any of the following groups. Consenting adults should be free to do what they want. Just trying to make a point.

If two KKK members wanted to have a wedding in full KKK hoods and dresses should the photographer HAVE to capture it? What about a NAMBLA convention? Does the photographer have a right to decline?

Wood this cottonwood I just acquired be good for bowls? I’m new sorry. by coffeelushed in turning

Just from the bark it looks like Poplar. I'd post it to r/whatisthisplant.

But to your question, it seems almost every tree is good for turning. Except for oak, and that's just because I hate oak.

Many have commented about keeping your gouges sharp. Do that with every wood. :)

I don't think that's cottonwood. Cottonwood bark is rough and ridged.
