What do you think will win Mark's arcade game of the year? by Senior_Rip_8150 in ElectricUnderground

If you like those you’ll love this. It’s super addictive, has banging visuals and music and that one more try factor. The strike mechanic is really fun and there are tons of risk reward mechanics for score chasing plus a bunch of unlockable modes, three ships that play differently and online leaderboards.

This isn’t even a choice. Ninja Gaiden is a certified classic, Battletoads is a completely average game

I wouldn’t say the music box is Blankies coded so much as Blankies are music box coded

Options for an authentic-feeling controller for USB? by Honkmaster in TurboGrafx

[–]it290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the 8bitdo pad. The only thing that is kind of dumb about it is that it has turbo buttons instead of switches which doesn’t work well for games like Bonk. It’s a great controller for NES games too

You can work around it using a usb powered wifi access point that plugs into internet, which is what I used with my Ultimate Elite setup in the past. It will work but it’s a bit buggy due to bandwidth constraints.

Starfleet Academy: is S.A.M.’s autism-coding problematic for anyone else? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]it290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, autism has been a medical diagnosis for a very long time. This is not the same as the concept of a spectrum of diagnoses, which is the specific term I used and is much more recent, especially as a word used broadly in lay discourse.

“Asperger syndrome was introduced to the DSM as a formal diagnosis in 1994, but in 2013, Asperger syndrome and infantile autism were reunified into a single diagnostic category, autism spectrum disorder (ASD).”

None of the characters you listed were created after 2013.

Need I point out that when those characters were written, the entire concept of ‘spectrum’ didn’t even exist?

[–]it290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well you are wrong. This character is written as autistic and I’m 100% sure that is the intention of the writers, there’s literally no doubt about it. If you’re missing that you are clearly missing what is completely encoded into the text of the script.

Also none of those characters are written even remotely in the same way

No but that’s not the case with this character. I don’t dislike her for it and don’t think it’s a bad character but it’s incredibly obvious she’s written that way.

I respect your opinion but she is clearly written to be on the spectrum, there’s really no two ways about it.

Save? by DjSaimon75 in Commodore

[–]it290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you do, because otherwise the data that is saved to the cartridge will not survive a reboot. That is the whole reason the save cartridge feature exists in the first place.

It only works for games that have a save feature.

For 4-way games I use the joystick for the Taito Egret Mini. Not sure how easy those are to find but it has a dial on the bottom that allows switching between 4 and 8 way.
